Overview Laisar builds and operates hiring pipelines on large construction and infrastructure programs. We connect residents to careers in the building trades by working alongside training providers, apprenticeship sponsors, community organizations, and the contractors doing the hiring. Our teams have supported major transportation and infrastructure programs across the region, including work with general contractors on projects governed by project labor agreements and local hiring commitments. About the Program This position supports a major development in Washington, DC. The program is designed to connect District residents to construction employment and long-term careers in the building trades. The Role This is the person residents and contractors see. You will run a career center located at an active construction site, serving as the direct, in-person point of contact for workers on the job and residents seeking a way onto it. You will be the senior company representative at the location. The role suits someone equally comfortable in a trailer with a superintendent and across a table from someone filling out their first application. What You Will Do Operate the on-site career center, currently anticipated at approximately three days per week including one weekend day Serve as senior on-site representative for the program; supervise center coordinator staff Conduct intake, assessment, and referral for walk-in and referred residents Maintain daily working relationships with contractors and subcontractors on site; respond to immediate hiring needs Identify and escalate retention issues affecting placed workers — transportation, tools, childcare, scheduling, workplace concerns Coordinate with case management staff on wrap-around service delivery Maintain accurate intake, referral, and outcome records Represent the program at site events, hiring fairs, and community sessions What You Need Three or more years in workforce development, employment services, case management, or construction site administration Experience working directly with jobseekers, including individuals facing employment barriers Comfort operating in an active construction environment and completing required site safety orientation Availability to work one weekend day per week Strong interpersonal skills across very different audiences — residents, contractors, agency staff What Helps Construction or building trades background, including union membership or apprenticeship completion OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification Experience operating a career center, one-stop, or resource center Established relationships in Ward 7 or Ward 8 community organizations Bilingual English/Spanish Residency Requirement District of Columbia residency is required. This program exists to create employment for DC residents, and we hold ourselves to the same standard. $78,000.00 - $98,000.00 per year
