General Information Job Description Director, Environmental Services Classification Exempt Job Code John Martinez Salary Grade Date Approved Summary & Objective The Director, Environmental Services is responsible for overseeing and providing direction for the staff of Environmental Services to ensure that the department meets facility and regulatory standards and needs. Knowledge & Experience Requirements High School diploma or general education degree (GED) 3-5 years' experience in a health care setting required Must have knowledge of computer office software Must be able to read, write and understand the English language Essential Functions Plans, organizes, implements, directs, evaluates and controls the overall operation of the Environmental Services Department. Assigns responsibility within the scope of the individual's abilities, job description Communicates and interprets department policies and procedures and monitors staff practices and implementation. Conducts daily rounds and creates work assignments. Coordinates department schedules to ensure they meet regulatory and budgetary standards. Completes employee evaluations on a timely basis. Accurately and objectively assesses performance Evaluates new products for environmental services usage. Maintains all records related to Bio-medical waste Maintains pest control policies and directs activities of pest control contractor Responses to campus environmental requests via communication/request software Participates in daily, weekly and/or monthly management team meetings and submits required reports, addresses findings, complaints or concerns as necessary. Ensure supplies and equipment is available and properly stored. Other Duties Works in any position within the Environmental Services Department as needed Ensures staff compliance in attendance at mandatory education and in-service programs Conducts in-services/education as needed or requested Provide orientation on a regular basis to new employees. Coordinates environmental services with all departments as needed Participates in the recruitment and selection of environmental services personnel and assures sufficient staff is hired. Ensure Environmental Services department is prepared for inspections/surveys. Promotes customer service and hospitality and responds to and adequately resolves complaints or concerns from patient and/or resident or families about housekeeping services. Promotes positive employee engagement, teamwork, mutual respect and safety work practices. Maintain required mandatory skill updates. Comply with all policies, local, state and federal laws and regulations. Perform other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibility May serve as an interim department leader depending on need Physical Requirements Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 250+ pounds, walk, climb stair or ladders, stand on feet for extended periods of time, etc. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently work in outside weather condition and is frequently exposed to fumes and airborne particles.
