A Preschool or Childcare Director manages and directs programs for very young children. Supervises child care workers and pre-school teachers. Proposes policies, program fees and budgets for approval by a program board or administrative agency or implements policies of a national organization. Meets with parents and staff to discuss the development, learning and behavior of children in the program or center. Orders supplies and monitors maintenance and cleaning at a facility. Ensures that the program or center meets state and federal guidelines.

Job Description

Job Overview We're looking for an organized, proactive, and people-focused Assistant Director to join our Montessori team! This role is perfect for someone who enjoys building relationships with families, keeping operations running smoothly, and helping a school grow. As the Assistant Director, you'll partner closely with our School Director to support daily operations, increase enrollment, oversee the Florida Step Up for Students scholarship process, maintain student records, uphold Montessori standards, and create an exceptional experience for our students, families, and staff. You'll also assist with marketing, school events, community outreach, and confidently step into leadership whenever needed. We're looking for someone who has: Bilingual (English/Spanish preferred) Montessori experience (teaching or administration) Experience in school administration, childcare, or early childhood education Proven success increasing enrollment through tours, follow-up, and relationship building Knowledge of Florida Step Up for Students scholarships Experience with QuickBooks, including basic invoicing and payment processing Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Brightwheel Experience with DCF licensing compliance, documentation, and record keeping Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills A positive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to take initiative and anticipate needs Strong relationship-building skills with families, staff, and the community Ability to supervise staff, conduct classroom observations, and provide coaching Flexibility to step into classrooms when needed to maintain licensing ratios and support the teaching team CPR/First Aid Certification (required) Florida Director Credential (preferred). Candidates without a Director Credential must be willing to obtain one within the first six months of employment.
