The Director will oversee the day-to-day operations of the center while ensuring a safe, nurturing, and high-quality learning environment for children, families, and staff. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of early childhood education and childcare center operations.
Director Responsibilities Include:
Overseeing the daily operations of the childcare center and ensuring compliance with DCFS Licensing Standards and regulations. Maintaining a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for all children. Supervising, supporting, and mentoring teaching and administrative staff. Managing staff schedules, classroom ratios, attendance, and staffing needs. Supporting staff recruitment, onboarding, training, and professional development. Building positive and professional relationships with families and addressing parent questions, concerns, and feedback. Ensuring accurate and timely completion of required documentation, records, and licensing requirements. Managing enrollment, tuition and billing processes, and administrative responsibilities. Utilizing the ProCare system for center management, enrollment, communication, attendance, tuition, and billing. Supporting curriculum implementation and ensuring classrooms provide engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences. Collaborating with teachers to support lesson planning, classroom environments, and children's individual needs. Promoting a positive, collaborative, and professional work culture among staff. Communicating effectively with ownership and administration regarding center operations, staffing, enrollment, and overall performance.
Qualifications:
Must meet Illinois DCFS qualifications for a Director of a licensed childcare center. Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred. Previous leadership or administrative experience in a licensed childcare center required. Strong knowledge of Illinois DCFS Licensing Standards and childcare regulations. Experience supervising and supporting teaching staff. Knowledge of childcare center operations, staff scheduling, enrollment, tuition, and billing. Familiarity with ProCare or similar childcare management systems preferred. Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Experience with staff recruitment, onboarding, and professional development is preferred. A strong understanding of developmentally appropriate practices and early childhood education.
