A Preschool or Childcare Director manages and directs programs for very young children. Supervises child care workers and pre-school teachers. Proposes policies, program fees and budgets for approval by a program board or administrative agency or implements policies of a national organization. Meets with parents and staff to discuss the development, learning and behavior of children in the program or center. Orders supplies and monitors maintenance and cleaning at a facility. Ensures that the program or center meets state and federal guidelines.

Position Summary The Co-Director will work closely with the Leadership Team to oversee daily school operations, support teachers, build strong family relationships, ensure licensing compliance, and help maintain the high-quality culture that makes JOL unique. This position is ideal for an experienced early childhood leader who enjoys being both a mentor and a hands-on team player. ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Staff Development Coach, mentor, and support teachers Assist with staff onboarding, training, and professional development Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback Foster a positive, collaborative workplace culture Help recruit and retain exceptional educators Family Engagement Build strong relationships with children and families Conduct tours and assist with enrollment efforts Address parent questions and concerns professionally Support family events and community engagement initiatives School Operations Assist with daily school operations and scheduling Ensure compliance with DCFS licensing requirements Maintain accurate records and documentation Support health, safety, and quality assurance procedures Collaborate on enrollment growth and retention strategies Curriculum & Quality Support implementation of Montessori and Reggio-inspired practices Encourage child-led, inquiry-based learning experiences Promote developmentally appropriate practices Help maintain high classroom quality standards Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field Director qualifications required Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in an early childhood setting Strong knowledge of licensing regulations and best practices Excellent communication and organizational skills Passion for building relationships with children, families, and staff Positive, energetic, and solution-oriented mindset Why Join JOL?
