DIRECTOR

Little Legacies Academy | Merrillville, IN Creating Big Impact in Little Lives Little Legacies Academy is looking for a dependable, organized, confident, and nurturing Assistant Director to join our leadership team. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who can help keep our center running smoothly, support teachers, communicate professionally with families, and take ownership of daily operations. We are looking for someone who doesn't simply wait to be told what to do—you notice what needs attention, take initiative, follow through, and help create solutions. What You'll Do Support the Director with daily center operations Lead and support teachers throughout the day Help manage staffing, classroom coverage, breaks, and ratios Ensure classrooms are following schedules, curriculum, and center expectations Assist with staff onboarding, training, and accountability Communicate professionally with families Help maintain licensing, safety, cleanliness, and documentation standards Step into classrooms when operationally necessary Help resolve everyday staff and family concerns Ensure opening/closing and daily procedures are completed Help create a positive, organized, accountable workplace culture We're Looking for

Highly dependable with strong attendance and punctuality A confident leader who can have respectful but direct conversations Organized and able to manage multiple priorities Proactive and solution-oriented Professional with families and staff Calm under pressure Comfortable holding others accountable Warm, nurturing, and passionate about early childhood education Able to work independently and make sound decisions Willing to jump in and help wherever needed Preferred Qualifications Previous childcare or early childhood education experience Previous leadership, Lead Teacher, management, or supervisory experience CDA, Associate's, or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred Knowledge of Indiana childcare licensing requirements preferred Must meet all applicable Indiana childcare employment requirements Don't have every preferred qualification? $35,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
