Skyland UMC is a welcoming and affirming congregation supporting this ministry. Around the Son Preschool is a long-standing ministry outreach program that meets the spiritual, social, emotional, intellectual, and physical needs of preschool students. Our church mission is to LOVE, GROW and SERVE. We are passionate about community, growing together and serving the world with love. Position Summary The Preschool Director provides leadership and oversight for our half-day preschool ministry, supporting children, families, teachers, and staff while maintaining compliance with state regulations and church policies. Key Responsibilities Manage day-to-day activities at the preschool. Ensure that the preschool complies with North Carolina's half-day program licensing requirements. Formulate a vision for preschool in tandem with a working committee Coordinate transitional plans (Kindergarten Readiness) with government agencies, schools, and community partners. Attend parent/teacher conferences as needed. Plan, manage and monitor the preschool's finances to ensure resources for a high-quality program, maintaining accurate records and student information. Submit budget proposals (salaries, tuition, curriculum expenses) as required Protect and enhance the health and safety of the children and staff at the preschool. Includes fire drills, lockdown drills, and shelter in place. Follow on-site security procedures. Always Ensure implementation of Safe Sanctuary Policies. Maintain an inviting physical environment, which fosters optimal growth and development. Includes playground maintenance, classroom organization & physical appearance, janitorial contracts, and equipment updates. Facilitate fair admission and enrollment. Provide professional input to the Board of Directors of the preschool. Maintain open communication with preschool families. Prepare newsletter items for all SUMC communications. Maintain relationships and coordination with church staff and church committees. Represent the program in the community. Foster a welcoming Christian learning environment, open to all families Qualifications Preferably - Level III NC Early Childhood Administration credentials plus BS degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development Supervisory or administrative experience preferred Must have 3 years relevant experience Able to relate to adults and children on all levels of the socioeconomic structure of the community.
