OPPORTUNITY
WEECare is seeking a faith-based, experienced, and purpose-driven leader to serve as the Director who will provide overall leadership and is responsible for creating an environment where children thrive, educators grow, families feel connected, and the ministry operates with excellence and intention. The Director leads WEECare through five core priorities: purpose, people, program, performance and partnership. These five priorities provide the foundation for how the Director leads, makes decisions, develops people, strengthens the program, and serves the WEECare community.
PURPOSE:
Keep WEECare's faith-based mission at the heart of all we do. The Director is responsible for cultivating an environment where children, families, and educators experience God's love through meaningful relationships, compassionate care, and a commitment to serving others.
The Director will:
Demonstrate a personal commitment to the Christian faith and a genuine desire to serve children, families, educators, and the church community. Lead with integrity, humility, compassion, grace, and a servant's heart. Support and uphold the mission, values, beliefs, and ministry priorities of WEECare and the church. Keep children at the center of decisions, recognizing the importance of these early years in a child's development and life. Foster an environment where children feel safe, known, loved, valued, and welcomed. Lead and serve educators with grace, encouragement, accountability, and respect. Partner with families as they entrust WEECare with the care and development of their children. Work collaboratively with church leadership and the WEECare Committee to protect and strengthen the ministry's mission. Steward the people, resources, and responsibilities entrusted to WEECare with wisdom and integrity. Make decisions with both professional excellence and ministry purpose in mind.
PEOPLE:
Build a culture where people feel valued, supported, challenged, and empowered. The Director is responsible for developing and leading a strong teaching team while creating a positive, healthy, and collaborative workplace culture.
The Director will:
Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and retain qualified educators and staff. Establish clear expectations and provide consistent coaching, feedback, and accountability. Build trusting relationships with teachers and create an environment of respect, collaboration, and belonging. Recognize staff strengths, celebrate accomplishments, and address concerns promptly and professionally. Conduct regular staff evaluations, check-ins, and performance conversations. Identify professional development needs and create opportunities for continued growth. Support staff in developing their confidence, skills, and leadership capacity. Ensure appropriate staffing, classroom coverage, scheduling, and supervision. Model professionalism, integrity, empathy, and servant leadership. Address staff concerns and interpersonal challenges with fairness, consistency, and discretion.
PROGRAM:
Create a high-quality, child-centered program where children learn, grow, and belong. The Director provides vision and oversight for the educational program and ensures that classroom experiences reflect strong early childhood practices and the mission of WEECare.
The Director will:
Provide vision and leadership for the overall preschool program. Ensure classrooms are safe, nurturing, engaging, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate. Support teachers in implementing curriculum and creating meaningful learning experiences. Conduct regular classroom observations and provide coaching and feedback. Maintain compliance with North Carolina childcare licensing requirements and applicable regulations. Monitor classroom environments, routines, transitions, supervision, and teaching practices. Support individualized approaches to children's developmental, behavioral, and learning needs. Partner with families and teachers when concerns arise regarding a child's development or behavior. Evaluate program practices and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Ensure policies, procedures, and systems support the safety and well-being of every child. Stay informed about current early childhood education practices, research, and regulatory expectations.
PERFORMANCE
" Create clarity, accountability, consistency, and continuous improvement. The Director is responsible for ensuring that WEECare operates with strong systems, clear expectations, responsible stewardship, and a commitment to excellence.
The Director will:
Establish clear goals, priorities, expectations, and standards for the program and staff. Monitor program quality, staffing, enrollment, attendance, and operational needs. Create systems and procedures that promote consistency, efficiency, and accountability across the program. Evaluate program goals and outcomes, using observations, feedback, data, and trends to identify opportunities for improvement. Address performance concerns with clarity, consistency, compassion, and appropriate follow-through. Identify challenges proactively and develop practical solutions. Oversee daily administrative operations, including scheduling, classroom assignments, staffing coverage, records, documentation, and communication. Oversee tuition billing, payment processes, and related financial records. Manage the program budget and responsibly steward WEECare resources. Coordinate purchasing, supplies, and other operational needs within the approved budget. Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date staff, child, enrollment, attendance, and program records. Ensure staff credentials, training records, certifications, and compliance documentation remain current. Maintain and update program policies, procedures, forms, and administrative systems. Ensure administrative processes, records, and documentation are completed accurately, consistently, and in accordance with NCDCDEE requirements and applicable regulations. Ensure health, safety, emergency preparedness, and licensing requirements are consistently maintained. Utilize WEECare's administrative and childcare management systems effectively. Communicate relevant program, operational, and financial information to church leadership and the WEECare Committee. Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive personnel, child, family, and financial information. Foster a culture where accountability, support, and continuous improvement go hand in hand.
PARTNERSHIP
Strengthen relationships between WEECare, families, educators, and the church. The Director serves as a bridge between the many people who make WEECare possible.
The Director will:
Build genuine, trusting relationships with children and families. Maintain open, timely, and respectful communication with parents and caregivers. Partner with families when developmental, behavioral, or classroom concerns arise. Collaborate with teachers rather than simply directing them. Work closely with the WEECare Committee and church leadership. Keep appropriate leadership informed of program needs, opportunities, challenges, and successes. Support the relationship between WEECare and the broader church community. Represent WEECare positively within the Fuquay-Varina community. Create opportunities for families, teachers, and the church to feel connected to the WEECare community. Navigate difficult conversations with empathy, professionalism, confidentiality, and sound judgment. Build relationships with community partners and early childhood resources when appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Progressive experience in early childhood education and/or program leadership. Experience supervising, coaching, developing, and evaluating educators. Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices. Working knowledge of North Carolina childcare licensing requirements and regulations. Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to lead with both confidence and compassion. Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions in a dynamic early childhood environment. Previous leadership or administrative experience in an early childhood setting.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a related field. Experience leading or managing a childcare or early childhood program.
Faith & Ministry:
Because WEECare is a ministry of the church, a Christian faith commitment is an essential qualification for the Director position.
The candidate must:
Be a professing Christian who personally embraces the Christian faith. Demonstrate a commitment to living and leading in alignment with Christian principles and values. Be comfortable serving as a faith-based leader within a church ministry. Support WEECare's mission, statement of faith, policies, and ministry practices. Demonstrate the character, maturity, integrity, and judgment necessary to serve as a professional and faith-based leader for children, families, and staff.
