MMO is a play-based center which provides children a nurturing educational environment to foster their social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development. Children benefit from MMO's low child to teacher ratios, differentiated instruction, and staff's partnership with their families. MMO's current enrollment is 30 children between the ages of twelve months and four years, who attend either full or part-time Monday through Friday. MMO employs 20 staff members who work with children across classroom programs, aftercare enrichment, and summer camp programming. Position Overview The MMO Director is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and quality of education for all children enrolled in the center. The Director is accountable for the operational management of the center, including program development, administration of public preschool classrooms, staff and facilities management, legal and budgetary considerations, compliance with all relevant agencies, and long-range planning. The MMO director will be expected to work with the MMO board and First Congregational Church administration to develop goals for the MMO program and meet or exceed them. Accountability MMO Programs is a secular ministry of First Congregational Church of Montclair, a diverse, progressive church community. This position reports to First Congregational Church's Executive Committee. Essential Job Functions
- Lead the operation and administration of the organization; oversee development, implementation, quality, and measurement of programs.
- Create a plan to increase enrollment.
- Oversee the public preschool program (Mini-Mounties) protocols for inclusion for 27-28 school year and follow all guidelines and requirements from NJ DOE and MPSD.
- Serve as spokesperson for MMO and promote its established mission and values.
- Ensure all center operations follow New Jersey childcare center standards and requirements including teacher certifications and vaccination requirements.
- Oversee communication with families including emails, newsletters, and social media postings.
- Develop general educational curriculum; collaborate with staff to develop positive learning activities; manage adherence to state learning standards.
- Oversee HR and personnel management; establish an employment environment where staff members feel supported; staff expectations are clear, achievable, and acknowledged.
- Conduct classroom observations to identify improvements to MMO programming and policy adherence and support staff development including staff training and evaluations.
- Oversee budget planning and financial reporting with the support of the Assistant Director.
- Oversee all business functions, including payroll, accounts payable, tuition billing and payment, and purchasing.
- Manage adherence to quality standards in accordance with the program's mission and with state and local requirements.
- Develop and implement an ongoing marketing strategy. Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in early childhood education or related field
- 4+ years teaching experience in a childcare center
- And/or 2+ years managerial or supervisory experience in a childcare setting Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Experience required

$70,000-$82,000 based on qualifications and experience
