Provides strategic leadership and vision for
CCDHH:
Establishes priorities that respond to the evolving needs, strengths, and aspirations of Deaf, Hard of Hearing, DeafBlind, and DeafDisabled communities. Develops and implements the Center's strategic priorities, goals, and performance measures in partnership with the President & CEO, staff, community members, and other stakeholders. Identifies opportunities to expand CCDHH's reach, impact, partnerships, and services throughout Northeast Ohio and, where appropriate, statewide. Serves as an active member of CHSC's Leadership Team, contributing to organization-wide strategy, planning, decision-making, and culture.
Leads community engagement and accountability:
Builds and sustains relationships with Deaf, Hard of Hearing, DeafBlind, and DeafDisabled individuals, organizations, leaders, and community groups. Creates ongoing mechanisms for community members to inform CCDHH priorities, services, advocacy, and decision-making. Serves as staff leader of the Deaf Advisory Committee. Ensures that CCDHH programs and practices reflect Deaf culture, linguistic accessibility, community priorities, and respect for individual communication choices. Serves as a highly visible and trusted representative of CCDHH within the community. Directs and coordinates all CCDHH programs and services: Provides executive oversight of CCDHH programs and services, including vocational rehabilitation, case management and client support services, youth programs, American Sign Language (ASL) classes, and community events, ensuring their quality, accessibility, relevance, and effectiveness. Oversees vocational rehabilitation services, including development of employment goals, application materials, job visits, community-based assessments, Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS), job coaching, and summer youth programs. Ensures that ASL classes are taught by qualified instructors and that a year-round calendar of youth programs and community events is planned and delivered. Works with program leaders and staff to develop new initiatives in response to identified community needs and opportunities. Establishes and monitors key performance indicators for program reach, quality, outcomes, and community impact, and uses data and community feedback to guide continuous improvement. Consults with other CHSC professionals, including audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and social workers, to help clients obtain diagnosis, treatment, and services. Provides direct client services (vocational rehabilitation, case management, education) as needed to support staff and the community. Ensures quality, compliance, and accreditation: Ensures services are provided in a high-quality, linguistically and culturally appropriate manner, consistent with CHSC policies and all accreditation and certification standards. Ensures that CARF accreditation renewals are completed successfully. Ensures compliance with applicable contracts, grants, regulatory requirements, and organizational standards, and that all legal, ethical, and safety considerations are followed. Ensures required documentation, including billing, is completed in a timely manner and follows established protocols to secure reimbursement from payers such as Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD). Develops, reviews, and analyzes CCDHH operating policies, practices, and procedures.
Leads advocacy and systems change:
Provides leadership for CCDHH's advocacy agenda at the local, regional, state, and national levels. Represents CCDHH with policymakers, government agencies, community organizations, healthcare systems, educational institutions, employers, and other stakeholders. Actively participates as a member of the OOD CCD group and the CCD consortium. Identifies systemic barriers affecting Deaf, Hard of Hearing, DeafBlind, and DeafDisabled people and develops partnerships and strategies to address them. Supports community members in developing their own capacity for advocacy and civic engagement.
Builds external relations and partnerships:
Serves as a principal external ambassador for CCDHH at community events, professional meetings, coalitions, governmental bodies, and other public forums. Develops strategic partnerships with organizations serving Deaf communities and with mainstream institutions seeking to improve accessibility and engagement, advancing a co-advocacy model of service. Meets with major providers and community partners to negotiate contracts and services and to schedule training. Works with CHSC's External Affairs team to communicate CCDHH's impact, market its programs and services, and maintain positive relationships with the media. 7. Strengthens fund development and financial sustainability: Partners with the President & CEO and External Affairs team to strengthen the financial sustainability of CCDHH. Cultivates relationships with foundations, government partners, corporations, individual donors, and other supporters. Proposes, designs, and develops new programs, services, and products that could be funded through new opportunities, particularly grants, and ensures current and future grant funding is pursued. Oversees all CCDHH grants and contracts, ensuring deliverables and reporting requirements are met within budget. Develops and manages the CCDHH annual operating budget, including a plan for philanthropic support, and ensures responsible stewardship of resources. Develops and participates in fundraising, educational, and public relations programs and presentations for clients, families, and community professionals about the mission and work of CHSC, CCDHH, and Deaf culture.
Leads people and culture:
Leads, develops, and supports CCDHH staff, building a culture of trust, accountability, collaboration, inclusion, and professional growth. Recruits, hires, and retains talented employees who reflect and understand the communities CCDHH serves. Ensures that Deaf professionals have meaningful opportunities for leadership, professional development, and advancement. Establishes clear expectations and decision-making authority while empowering staff to exercise professional judgment and ownership of their work. Works across CHSC to build understanding of Deaf culture, accessibility, and effective engagement with Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities.
