Our Preschool Director provides overall leadership, spiritual direction, and final accountability for Mt. Olive Lutheran Preschool. The Director serves as the licensed Director of Record with Texas HHSC Child Care Regulation, sets strategic direction in partnership with the Preschool Board, and shares daily operational leadership with the Assistant Director.

Full-Time Essential Job Functions Executive Leadership & Compliance These responsibilities carry final accountability to the Board and to the State of Texas and are not delegated. Serve as the preschool's licensed Director of Record with Texas HHSC Child Care Regulation; personally meet and maintain HHSC director qualifications (26 TAC §746.1015, or the section applicable to the center's licensed capacity) and hold a current Licensing Child-Care Center Director's Certificate. Ensure the preschool remains in compliance with Texas Health and Human Service Childcare Licensing standards and other government regulations at all times; maintain the primary relationship with licensing agents. Own the annual budget and fiscal strategy; present the budget to the Preschool Board for approval; report monthly to the Board. Serve as the primary liaison to the Preschool Board and Education Board - Preschool Committee; help plan Board meetings and activities. Set overall marketing and publicity strategy for the preschool ministry. Design and oversee curriculum to ensure all teaching and learning activities achieve the preschool's mission. Collaborate with Human Resources on staff hiring, training, and employment separations. Conduct formal annual performance evaluations. Maintain correspondence with the church and state offices on behalf of the preschool; contribute to required student and staff employment files. Take an equal, scheduled rotation of daily floor coverage, on-call substitute calls, and building/playground safety walk-throughs, alternating by day or week with the Assistant Director. Serve as the lead point of contact for teacher coaching and parent communication for an assigned set of classrooms/pods Share tour and enrollment coverage with the Assistant Director on an alternating basis. Co-lead major preschool events. Maintain regular, protected time in classrooms each week to stay connected to daily preschool life. Spiritual & Ministry Leadership Serve as the primary spiritual leader of the preschool; lead or coordinate bi-weekly chapel with faculty and staff. Model discipleship, providing example and encouragement to the school community. Provide moral and spiritual support and guidance to parents as they raise their preschoolers. Represent the preschool ministry as requested -sponsored events (i.e., Vacation Bible School) and maintain a regular, visible presence. Assist or substitute for other church staff as needed and available. Buildings, Grounds & Worker Care Maintain the primary working relationship with the Preschool Board on facility policy and major maintenance. Maintain a program of personal and professional wellbeing for all preschool workers, in accordance with Preschool Board policy. Qualifications 5+ years' proven success in leading a Texas HHSC licensed and accredited Christian Preschool. Meets Texas HHSC director qualifications under 26 TAC §746.1015 (or the section applicable to the center's licensed capacity); holds, or is able to obtain, a Licensing Child-Care Center Director's Certificate. Committed, growing Christian faith and lifestyle consistent with the mission of Mt. Olive Lutheran Preschool; LCMS/Lutheran membership preferred but not required. Strong organizational, financial, and interpersonal skills; comfortable representing the preschool to the Board, congregation, and community. Ability to honor and maintain confidentiality Lives the mission and core values of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church & Preschool Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development tailored for preschool-aged children. Strong leadership skills with a track record of supervising staff and managing budgets as an educational administrator. Knowledge of educational compliance regulations, including special education law and childhood development standards. Experience facilitating professional development sessions for educators in school environments. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with staff, parents, community partners, and stakeholders. Background in strategic planning, fundraising efforts, and educational program expansion is highly desirable. Deep understanding of early childhood education principles combined with classroom teaching experience in preschool settings.
