Tysons Corner Children's Center Job Title:
Assistant Center Director This position reports to the Center Director and is responsible for performing assigned teaching and center administration and supervisory functions. Specifically, this position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the classroom according to TCCC's overall guidelines when covering for a Director who is not on site for planned or unplanned leave. This position is responsible for implementing daily activities that are appropriate to the developmental needs of children in each classroom. The Assistant Center Director creates a warm, accepting classroom atmosphere that encourages the social, emotional and academic growth of all children enrolled in the program in all classrooms.
What You've Done:
Experience, Skills, and Education that demonstrate knowledge of Early Childhood Education (ECE) as it applies to the well-being of young children. Must be 18 years of age. 1. A minimum six months of programmatic experience in the group care of children and at least one of the following educational backgrounds: a. A one-year early childhood certificate from an accredited college or university that consists of at least 30 semester hours; b. A child development credential by an organization approved by the Virginia Department of Social Services; c. A teaching diploma from an internationally or nationally recognized Montessori organization; or d. A two- or four-year degree in a child-related field and/or a Child Development Associate (CDA) is preferred. 2. At a minimum a high school diploma or G.E.D. or verification of completion of a home school program approved by the state of Virginia, and six months of supervised programmatic experience in the group care of children. Within one month after being promoted or beginning work, a minimum of 12 hours of training related to the care of children, including child development, playground safety, and health and safety issues, including child abuse and neglect shall be received. Such training may take place on site while not supervising children. 3. A minimum of two years of experience working with children in multiple age groups. Listening to and interacting with others (children, parents, coworkers). Ability to communicate ideas orally and written in English so others will understand. 4. Extra credit for eperience with HubSpot, Amazon Business, EventBrite, or related tools and websites used in the daily operations, marketing and development of family experiences. What You'll Do:
  • Read and comply with the State childcare licensing regulations, Employee Handbook, OSHA guidelines and Health and Safety Practices of the Center.
  • Ensure accurate children's attendance records are maintained on a daily basis. Ensure children's sign in and sign out sheets are filled in by parents. Add information as needed to ensure all children are accounted for in conjunction with licensing standards on a daily basis.
  • Comply with USDA procedures and requirements which include documenting on a daily basis the meals and snacks served to children.
  • Be consistent and reliable in your arrival, attendance, and requests for time away from the Center.
  • Assist the Director to schedule and coordinate Center wide activities, calendar of special events, and field trips.
  • Be prepared to assist in any classroom during specific situations where your expertise may be needed in order to best serve the immediate needs of the Center.
  • Make new enrollment packets, orientation classroom packets for new students and tour packets for perspective families.
  • Purchase supplies, schedule field trips, and maintain child files to Virginia State Licensing requirements.
  • Developing daily staffing plans, updating playground supervision log, accident report tally and staff directory.
