A Preschool or Childcare Director manages and directs programs for very young children. Supervises child care workers and pre-school teachers. Proposes policies, program fees and budgets for approval by a program board or administrative agency or implements policies of a national organization. Meets with parents and staff to discuss the development, learning and behavior of children in the program or center. Orders supplies and monitors maintenance and cleaning at a facility. Ensures that the program or center meets state and federal guidelines.
Job Summary The Program Supervisor oversees the daily educational operations, curriculum implementation, and classroom standards of the childcare center. This role ensures high-quality care, regulatory compliance, and a supportive learning environment for children while mentoring teaching staff and maintaining strong relationships with parents. Key Responsibilities Program & Curriculum Leadership Oversee the development and implementation of age-appropriate, inquiry-based curricula across all classrooms. Monitor classroom environments to ensure they are engaging, safe, and aligned with early childhood education standards. Conduct regular classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to lead and assistant teachers. Staff Supervision & Mentorship Assist in hiring, onboarding, and training new early childhood educators. Lead ongoing professional development, staff meetings, and training workshops. Manage staff scheduling, ratio maintenance, and classroom coverage daily. Compliance & Safety Ensure strict adherence to state licensing regulations, sanitation guidelines, and facility safety protocols. Maintain accurate child and staff records, including attendance, accident reports, and developmental assessments. Act as the designated site lead in the absence of the Center Director. Family & Community Engagement Serve as a primary point of contact for parent inquiries, concerns, and developmental updates. Conduct facility tours for prospective families and lead the enrollment intake process when the Center Director is unavailable. Facilitate parent-teacher conferences and coordinate center-wide family events. Orient new families to program policies and educational philosophies.
Qualifications & Requirements Education:
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 2-3 years of classroom teaching experience in a licensed childcare facility, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
Certifications:
State Early Childhood Education (ECE) Lead Teacher / Supervisor qualification. Current CPR and First Aid certification. Cleared background check, TB test, and state child abuse registry clearance.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of state licensing laws, child development milestones, conflict resolution, staff leadership, and excellent interpersonal skills for prospective family admissions.
Pay:
Up to $23.00 per hour Expected hours: No more than 40.0 per week
