Cook Job Description •This position is from 8 am-5 pm
M-F Definition:
Employees in this category perform a variety of tasks involving preparation and serving of food for the children, cleaning and keeping orderly the building and outdoor areas of the center. The work of this type will be closely supervised by the center director. General Duties 1. Prepare nutritious meals and snacks for children of various ages, adhering to dietary restrictions and allergies. 2. Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and managing waste according to health codes. 3. Preforms task such as mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing and similar duties. 4. Cleans out milk cooler, freezer and fridge weekly. 5. Wipes cabinets, walls and drawers out weekly. 6. Cleans scrubs and polishes, disinfects bathrooms and replenishes supplies. 7. Assists in keeping outdoor area neat. 8. Does laundry when needed 9. Design a rotating menu that meets the nutritional guidelines for children and accommodates seasonal availability of ingredients 10. Order and inventory kitchen supplies and food, ensuring fresh ingredients are always available while minimizing waste. 11. Puts up all food orders and does inventory weekly. The director will give the day for the inventory list to be turned in. 12. Helps in classrooms when needed. 13. Helps answer phone when director is out. 14. Performs other related work as requested by director. 15. Remember to ask teachers if they need any help... 16. Engage with children during meal times to encourage healthy eating habits and monitor their food intake and preferences. 17. Implement safety protocols for food preparation, storage, and handling to prevent foodborne illnesses. 18. Participate in staff meetings to discuss children's nutritional needs, feedback on meals, and suggestions for menu adjustments. 19. Assists in setting up and putting away cots if needed. •There is

in the kitchen. Must be working, busy cleaning, organizing or helping others. Qualifications Experience working with children in a daycare or educational setting is preferred. 18 years of age High school diploma or GED Must be able to pass a state background check and CA/N Registry.
