Job Description
Parker's Place Childcare & Development Center is looking for a dependable, caring, energetic, and patient teacher to join our team and lead a classroom of potty-trained 3-year-olds. Childcare experience is encouraged, but it is NOT required. We are willing to train the right person who genuinely enjoys working with children, is dependable, and is willing to learn. This is an active classroom position. We are looking for someone who wants to teach, play, interact, communicate, and build positive relationships with children —not simply supervise them. Responsibilities As the classroom teacher, you will be expected to: Provide active and attentive supervision of children at all times. Maintain a safe, positive, nurturing, and organized classroom. Plan and implement age-appropriate learning activities and daily lessons. Encourage development of language, early literacy, numbers, colors, shapes, fine/gross motor skills, social skills, and independence. Actively participate in play, learning centers, outdoor activities, meals, rest time, and classroom routines. Use positive, age-appropriate guidance and redirection. Assist children with restroom routines and accidents when necessary. Maintain classroom cleanliness and sanitation throughout the day. Follow all Parker's Place policies and Alabama DHR Child Care Licensing and Performance Standards . Maintain required staff-to-child ratios and proper supervision. Complete required classroom documentation, incident reports, and other records as needed. Communicate professionally with parents, coworkers, and management. Work cooperatively with other classrooms and staff when needed.
Minimum Requirements Applicants must:
Meet Alabama DHR requirements for employment in a childcare facility. Be able to successfully complete the required Alabama Child Care Criminal History/Comprehensive Background Check . Meet applicable age and education requirements for a childcare worker/teacher. Be physically able to actively supervise and participate in activities with young children. Be dependable and able to report to scheduled shifts on time. Have reliable transportation. Be willing to complete all required DHR health and safety training. Be willing to obtain/maintain required First Aid and Pediatric CPR training as applicable. Be willing to complete required ongoing/in-service training. Follow all center safety, supervision, discipline, sanitation, and confidentiality policies. Already having required childcare training is NOT necessary to apply. Required courses/training may be completed after hire within the timeframes allowed by Alabama DHR and Parker's Place. Preferred Qualifications While not required, preference may be given to applicants who have: Previous daycare, preschool, Pre-K, babysitting, or early childhood experience. Experience working specifically with 3- and 4-year-old children. CDA, Early Childhood Education coursework, or related education. Current Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification. Experience creating or implementing preschool lesson plans. The Person We're Looking For Our ideal teacher is someone who is patient, loving, dependable, teachable, and actively involved with the children. You do not need years of childcare experience to be a great fit for our center. We are happy to help train someone who has the right attitude and a genuine desire to work with children. However, this position requires someone who understands that childcare is an active job . Teachers are expected to be engaged with their children, follow classroom routines, prepare learning activities, maintain their classroom, and provide consistent supervision throughout the day.Pay:
