What you'll do Partner with the Director to lead daily center operations in full compliance with Alabama DHR licensing standards and health and safety regulations Support the planning, implementation, and ongoing improvement of developmentally appropriate curriculum that meets children where they are and helps them grow Mentor and coach classroom teachers and assistants — providing encouragement, feedback, and professional development opportunities that help our team shine Step in as Acting Director in the Director's absence, providing steady, thoughtful leadership our staff and families can rely on Build genuine relationships with families, responding to their questions and concerns with warmth, professionalism, and care Assist with staff scheduling, onboarding, and the day-to-day people operations that keep our center running smoothly Support budget awareness and responsible use of center resources in partnership with senior leadership Participate in community engagement efforts, parent meetings, and events that connect our center to the families and neighborhoods we serve Maintain accurate licensing records, enrollment files, and required documentation Uphold supervision ratios, emergency preparedness plans, and a culture of child safety at all times What you bring 18 years of age or older (required) High school diploma or GED (required) CDA credential or Short Certificate in Early Childhood Education, Associate's degree in ECE or Child Development strongly preferred At least 1 year of hands-on classroom experience working with young children in a licensed child care or early childhood setting Leadership or supervisory experience preferred — you know how to bring out the best in the people around you Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire Must meet all Alabama DHR background clearance and health documentation requirements Strong communication skills and the ability to connect genuinely with children, families, staff, and community partners You'll stand out if you have Experience with curriculum development tailored to diverse learning needs across infant, toddler, and preschool age groups Familiarity with Alabama's Quality STARS rating system or similar quality improvement frameworks Knowledge of the DHR Child Care Assistance Program or other subsidy programs Experience with child care management software or digital record-keeping A track record of meaningful family and community engagement A heart for diversity, equity, and making every child and family feel like they truly belong Why join us Competitive Pay, plus bonus opportunities not found elsewhere 401K plus company match Paid time off / holidays Childcare discount if applicable Professional development support including tuition reimbursement and apprenticeship programs A close-knit team that shows up for each other — and for every child we serve
