Position:

The purpose of a Pre-K teacher, as reflected in a job description, is to prepare young children for kindergarten and daily life by fostering their social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development through age-appropriate activities and instruction. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Ability to establish rapport and build professional relationships with students Student supervision Ensure compliance at the classroom level with activities and record keeping due to the state department (Minimum Licensing Standards, Early Childhood Environment Rating Scales, etc.) Strong problem-solving skills Complete all lesson planning and instruction requirements, and provide support for struggling learners Attend meetings related to the child in assigned class, attend professional development activities Communicate with parents and provide parent engagement activities Excellent time management, high degree of professionalism Ensure equipment and the facility are clean, well-maintained and safe at all times Establish acceptable and consistent disciplinary policies Be familiar with emergency procedures Discuss children's day with parents Discuss children's development with director and parents when appropriate A growth mindset, able to accept change and challenges to prior learning

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands Caring for children can be physically demanding. The teacher may be lifting and carrying the children and equipment and will be spending time sitting on the floor and in child-sized furniture. The teacher may come in contact with children who are ill/contagious and must take precautions to maintain the health and safety of the other children, parents, staff, and themselves. Environmental Conditions The teacher will be working in a busy and occasionally noisy environment. There maybe several situations and activities happening at once and the teacher will have to supervise all of the children at all times. Sensory Demands The teacher may experience smells associated with children during toileting and/or who are ill. There will be times when the environment is noisy and busy. Mental Demands There may be several situations and activities happening at once and the teacher must be prepared to handle accidents and emergencies at any time. Other duties as assigned
