ABOUT BIZZY BEE

Bizzy Bee Child Development Center is a nurturing, established family childcare program serving children from infancy through school age. We are committed to providing a safe, structured, engaging environment where children are supported socially, emotionally, physically, and academically. We are seeking a dependable, energetic, caring, and engaged Child Care Assistant / Early Childhood Educator who genuinely enjoys working with children and understands that quality childcare involves active participation throughout the day. The ideal candidate will have education in Child Development/Early Childhood Education, previous experience working with young children, and the ability to actively contribute to a positive learning environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide attentive and active supervision of children at all times. Create and support age-appropriate learning experiences and activities. Assist with implementing curriculum, lesson plans, and developmental activities. Encourage children's social-emotional, language, cognitive, physical, and self-help development. Read to children and facilitate art, music, sensory activities, dramatic play, outdoor play, and other hands-on learning experiences. Model and reinforce positive behavior, respectful communication, and appropriate social skills. Assist children with meals, snacks, toileting, diapering, handwashing, dressing, and other daily-care routines. Maintain clean, organized, sanitary, and developmentally appropriate childcare spaces. Clean and sanitize toys, equipment, eating areas, classroom materials, and childcare areas as required. Supervise indoor and outdoor activities. Observe children's development and communicate relevant observations to the Director. Assist with developmental documentation and assessments when required. Help prepare and organize classroom materials and learning environments. Follow all health, safety, licensing, and program policies and procedures. Communicate professionally and respectfully with children, families, coworkers, and the Director. Assist with transportation and school pickup/drop-off when assigned. Perform other childcare-related duties necessary for the safe and effective operation of the program.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education/Child Development, including appropriate core coursework for working with young children. Previous experience working with children in a licensed childcare, preschool, early-learning, family childcare, or similar environment. Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices. Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain certification before beginning employment. Ability to successfully complete all required background clearances. Ability to safely supervise and care for multiple children. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, policies, schedules, and established procedures. Professional, patient, nurturing, and respectful demeanor. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Dependability, punctuality, and consistent attendance. Reliable transportation.

STRONGLY PREFERRED

Current California Child Development Associate Teacher Permit, Teacher Permit, or higher-level Child Development Permit. Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or comparable early childhood teaching credential. Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field. Experience working with infants, toddlers, and preschool-age children. Experience implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum. Familiarity with developmental observations and assessments. Experience with DRDP or similar developmental assessment tools. Experience working in a licensed family childcare home or mixed-age childcare environment. Valid California driver's license and clean driving record.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is an active, hands-on childcare position.

Candidates must be able to:

Sit and work with children at floor level. Bend, kneel, squat, stand, and move throughout the childcare environment. Safely lift and carry young children when necessary. Participate in indoor and outdoor activities. Respond promptly to children's needs and emergencies. Perform routine cleaning and sanitation duties associated with childcare.

We value an educator who can take direction while also recognizing what needs to be done without having to be continually prompted.

SCHEDULE

Full-time and part-time opportunities may be available. Approximately 32-40 hours per week, depending on program needs. Specific schedule and availability will be discussed during the interview process.

COMPENSATION

$18.00-$20.00 per hour, based on Early Childhood Education/Child Development coursework, permit or credential level, experience, and overall qualifications. Paid time off may be available in accordance with program policy and eligibility requirements.
