Come and join our fabulous team! The Music Teacher position is for the 10 months of the school year and includes holiday breaks and summer off. Check out our Instagram @alsc_preschool Position Summary The Preschool Music Teacher is responsible for creating a joyful, Christ-centered music program that fosters a love of music while supporting the spiritual, social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of preschool-aged children. Through singing, movement, instruments, rhythm, and creative play, the Music Teacher introduces children to foundational music concepts while sharing God's love in a nurturing Lutheran environment. Essential Responsibilities Plan and lead engaging, developmentally appropriate music classes for children ages 2-5. Teach basic musical concepts including rhythm, beat, tempo, melody, listening skills, and movement. Incorporate Christian songs, Bible stories, worship music, and seasonal hymns into lessons when appropriate. Encourage participation through singing, dancing, movement activities, fingerplays, instruments, and creative expression. Plan and help coordinate the preschool Christmas Program, Easter singing, Preschool Graduation, chapel presentations, and other special performances and school events. Foster a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere where every child feels valued and successful. Adapt lessons to meet the varying developmental needs and abilities of all learners. Maintain music supplies, instruments, and classroom organization. Communicate effectively with classroom teachers and the Preschool Director regarding lesson plans, rehearsals, and upcoming performances. Follow all licensing regulations and school policies regarding health, safety, and supervision. Serve as a positive Christian role model, demonstrating kindness, patience, integrity, and respect in all interactions. Support the mission and philosophy of the preschool and Lutheran education. Qualifications Experience teaching music to young children preferred. Background in music, music education, early childhood education, or a related field preferred. Ability to sing confidently and accompany songs using piano, guitar, ukulele, or recorded music. Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Passion for working with preschool-aged children. Ability to work collaboratively with staff and families. Must successfully complete all required background checks and meet state licensing requirements to work with children. Physical Requirements Ability to actively participate in music and movement activities. Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, and move frequently throughout the day. Lift and carry up to 25 pounds as needed. Ability to supervise children indoors and outdoors.
