Job Description

Mother Lode Mountain Tots is seeking caring, dependable substitute preschool teachers to join our team. Our program serves children ages 2-6 through an enriching curriculum that combines developmentally appropriate learning, social-emotional development, and Montessori-inspired practices. We honor each child as a unique individual while helping them become kind, capable, and respectful members of their classroom community. This is an ongoing recruitment for our substitute pool. Substitutes may be called upon to cover staff vacations, illnesses, last-minute absences, and increased staffing needs during the summer. This is an on-call position with no guaranteed or required hours after onboarding and training. Schedule and Compensation On-call, as-needed scheduling Potential shifts are available Monday-Friday between 7:15 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Starting pay:
$17.50 per hour, with opportunities for growth as you gain experience with our program No guaranteed minimum number of hours Minimum Qualifications Applicants must: Be at least 18 years old Hold a high school diploma or GED Successfully complete a comprehensive criminal background check Provide proof of required MMR and Tdap immunizations and a current tuberculosis clearance Have the patience, energy, and attentiveness needed to work in a licensed group-care program serving children ages 2-6 Be dependable, accountable, and committed to acting with integrity Be able to bend, kneel, sit on and rise from the floor, and perform other physical tasks associated with caring for young children Be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds Education and Experience Applicants must also: Have completed at least six semester units of college-level Early Childhood Education coursework through an accredited institution, or hold a valid Child Development Assistant Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing Provide a positive professional reference verifying at least six months of experience working in a licensed child care center Complete Mandated Reporter training upon receiving a job offer Obtain pediatric CPR and First Aid certification within six months of hire and maintain current certification throughout employment Key Responsibilities Substitute teachers will: Report to and follow the direction of the Director Actively supervise children and protect their health, safety, and well-being at all times Follow established classroom routines and implement the daily program Interact with children in a patient, respectful, and developmentally appropriate manner Communicate honestly, kindly, and professionally with children, families, coworkers, the Director, and the Administrator Maintain professional standards in appearance, conduct, and language Follow applicable licensing requirements and school policies, including Title 22 regulations and mandated-reporter responsibilities Help maintain clean, safe, and organized classrooms, outdoor areas, bathrooms, and kitchen spaces Guide and assist children with age-appropriate cleanup routines Perform other reasonable duties needed to support the safe and effective operation of the program Apply If you are a dependable and compassionate early-childhood educator who enjoys supporting young children, we would love to hear from you.
