Our two boys (nearly 1 and 5 years old) keep the energy high from the moment the sun comes up and make our home feel lively and bright. One parent works full-time both from and outside the home during the week, while the other manages the home and the kids during the day and also pursues an evening academic program. We aim to run an organized home. There are systems in place, bins labeled, and a general sense of order—but with two young kids, a packed schedule, and limited overlap between the two parents in the evenings, keeping everything on track has become a challenging juggling act. From 4:30 pm onward is our toughest stretch—from dinner prep, laundry, dishes, tending to the cats, and getting the children bathed and in bed—there's a lot to be done in this limited window, especially with one parent taking evening classes while the other is just getting home from work. With our bustling schedules, we're looking for long-term, consistent, and proactive support to create and maintain meaningful systems in our home that lighten the mental load of the household tasks that feel overwhelming, so we can focus on what matters most to us: having fun as a family, spending time together as partners, and truly being present with our kids without feeling like we're being pulled in multiple directions. Who You Are / What We're Looking For You are highly observant and self-directed—you take pride in your work and feel real satisfaction from supporting others. You're easygoing, focused, calm, and comfortable being in a home where the parents are present and engaged. You're also open to feedback and genuinely happy to bring ideas to the table when you see ways to improve how the household runs. You have a warm, engaging presence, love working with young children (ages 1-5), and have experience doing so. You're also a fan of cats, including ones that are friendly and those that are a bit more shy. You have high emotional intelligence and read a room well—you can set up a developmentally appropriate activity for a five-year-old while a parent cares for the 1-year-old, or start dinner without being asked because you can see it needs to happen. The ideal person for this role is someone who naturally anticipates needs, easily prioritizes competing tasks, has excellent time management skills, asks questions when something is truly unclear, and helps create an environment where the family feels genuinely supported, rather than needing to manage or delegate every detail or task. You're the kind of person who quickly notices the kitchen needs tidying, the laundry needs switching, and the kids need a snack — all at the same time — and truly enjoys proactively easing the mental load of a busy family that prioritizes being fully present and spending quality time together. Key Responsibilities Family Support Provide hands-on support to children and assist parents during evening routines, including engaging with children during bath time, dinner, and wind-down Backup pick-up and drop-off support for school and daycare as schedules shift Prep backpacks, clothing, and school lunches Meal Support Plan and execute approximately 3 dinners per week for the full household (combination of batch-prep and fresh cooking) Follow dietary needs/preferences: no pork or shellfish; one parent is lactose intolerant Prep school and daycare lunches Post-dinner kitchen cleanup and maintenance Household Organization & Maintenance Create, maintain, and support existing household organization systems Daily resets and prep home for bi-weekly cleaners Light tidying — dishes, surfaces, high-traffic floor areas Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs occasionally as needed Seasonal clothing swaps occasionally as needed Packing and unpacking support for family travel (approximately twice per year) Laundry & Linens Wash, fold, and organize household laundry Linen rotation — towels and bedding Maintain a tidy and stocked laundry area Inventory & Errands Track household supply levels and flag when items are running low via shared running list Monitor household subscriptions (e.g., Amazon, Costco, Target) and alert family when subscription timing needs to be adjusted Help put away deliveries and restock items Misc.
