Job opening - Preschool Teacher San Mateo Parents' Nursery School 1732 Monte Diablo Avenue, San Mateo, CA 94401 Who we are: SMPNS is a small, well-loved non-profit preschool, nestled in the beautiful scenery at the baytrail in San Mateo. Since 1947 we have been a play-based preschool that honors and values each child's individual interests and fosters natural growth and a safe learning environment. The staff at SMPNS follows a child centered curriculum and approaches each child as an individual who is competent and capable of fostering a lifelong love of learning. We are a play-based school that celebrates diversity in the community and we offer a creative and joyful setting where children can explore freely, spread their wings and can discover who they are and what it means to be part of a community. Qualified Candidates must possess the following: Patient, kind, nurturing and flexible disposition Excellent with teamwork and collaboration A minimum of 12 ECE units, including core courses, but 24 ECE units is preferred A.A. degree or B.A. preferred Minimum 1 year of experience teaching in an ECE setting Strong knowledge in child-centered approach and play-based philosophy Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience with documenting each child's development Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with a team of teachers Ability to effectively communicate with parents in a professional manner Committed to putting the interests of the school and children first Physical ability to move quickly around the classroom, getting up and down the off floor as well as lifting up heavy objects and children, and change diapers. Proficient in basic computer skills

Job Summary:

Monday through Friday; between 20 - 36 hours a week. Must at least be available from the hours of 12 - 5:15pm. $180 in cafeteria plan offered to purchase own benefits as the employee sees fit Sick time and Paid holidays Pay range of $25 to $33 depending on education and experience.
