About the Job Neighborhood Childcare Center, a creative, child-centered program located on the west side of Santa Cruz, has one afternoon teacher position open for the youngest group classroom. We offer an innovative program with a bilingual enrichment component and Montessori work time for children ages 2 and a half to 5 years. We have a teacher-student ratio of 1:8. This position begins ASAP, at 30-35 hrs per week. This is for an afternoon position, although we are also seeking temporary help in the mornings. If after successfully completing a 90 day introductory period and being hired on permanently, you will receive medical and dental insurance (100% of premium), accrue PTO, and qualify for paid holiday closures. To be successful as a Preschool Teacher, you should have the patience, compassion, and energy to successfully guide a class of young children, each of whom will have different needs, abilities, aptitudes, and emotions. The best candidate will also have excellent administrative and organizational skills, in order to plan curriculums and create reports on each child's progress.

Responsibilities:

Educating children about fundamental concepts, such as colors, letters, numbers, and shapes. Encouraging social interactions between children and improving their self-esteem. Engaging in creative methods of learning, such as arts and crafts, supervised play, and storytelling. Planning comprehensive curriculums to address early childhood development needs. Instilling a sense of order and discipline in the classroom. Ensuring the classroom is a clean, safe, and organized environment. Preparing for lessons by gathering materials and setting up workstations.

Requirements:

12 ECE or Child Development Units (minimum) Teaching experience with preschool children ages 2-5 is preferred. Fluent in Spanish is highly preferred but not required. Multicultural awareness. Ability to communicate with young children at their level. Patient, compassionate attitude, with a friendly, energetic disposition.

Pay:

From $21.80 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 - 35.0 per week
