Position Summary:

We are seeking a flexible, caring, and dependable Part-Time Preschool Substitute Teacher to join our early learning team on an as-needed basis. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with young children and ready to step in to support classroom continuity, safety, and engagement when regular teaching staff are absent. The Substitute Teacher will assist with daily routines, implement prepared lesson plans, and supervise children, providing individualized care and attention to help meet the developmental needs of each child. This role is essential in maintaining a joyful, consistent, and inclusive community where preschoolers can explore, learn, and thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

Classroom Management and Support Step in to lead or assist in the classroom, implementing daily lesson plans and ensuring children remain actively engaged in learning activities. Maintain the health, safety, and active supervision of children across all classroom, playground, and facility settings. Perform routine classroom duties to keep the space clean, safe, and organized, including wiping down surfaces, preparing materials, and sweeping. Maintain a warm, inclusive classroom environment where every child feels safe, valued, and supported during staff transitions. Promote positive behaviors and social interactions through modeling and consistent reinforcement of respect, empathy, and cooperation. Support classroom documentation, including attendance, CACFP records, and incident reports as needed during shifts. Child Development Support Support children in developing independence, problem-solving skills, and self-confidence throughout daily routines. Help maintain consistent schedules and expectations to provide stability for children when regular staff are away. Family Engagement Greet families and visitors warmly, maintaining a professional and welcoming presence during drop-off and pick-up times. Communicate essential end-of-day updates to families or regular teaching staff as needed. Team Collaboration and Professionalism Adapt quickly to different classroom dynamics and collaborate effectively with co-teachers, classroom aides, and administrative leadership. Maintain a professional, approachable demeanor and adhere strictly to school policies, safety protocols, and ethical conduct. Maintain complete confidentiality regarding child, family, and staff information.

Qualifications:

Education:

Minimum Level 1 CO Early Childhood Professional Credential (or ability to obtain); Child Development Associate (CDA) or equivalent preferred.

Experience:

Previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or early childhood setting preferred.

Certifications:

CPR and First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain prior to start).

Hours:

15.50 and variable shifts between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday during the school year (August-May), with optional on-call opportunities during summer programming.

Compensation:

Hourly rate commensurate with experience, education, and credentials (starting at $15.50-$20.00/hour based on degree status).
