About Us Bloomfield Preschool and Childcare Center is the longest running, oldest accredited preschool and childcare center in CT! BPCC is a state-funded early childhood center located in Bloomfield, Connecticut, dedicated to providing affordable, high-quality care to children and families who might not otherwise have access. We proudly participate in Care4Kids , the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) , and other state-funded initiatives to ensure every child receives the support, nutrition, and education they deserve during their most critical years of development. We serve children from 6 weeks to 5 years old in a nurturing, developmentally appropriate environment where curiosity is encouraged, milestones are celebrated, and every child is valued. Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic Early Childhood Educator to join our team. The ideal candidate is committed to equity in education and passionate about working with young children and their families. You will be instrumental in helping to shape the lives of our youngest learners during their most formative years. Responsibilities As an Early Childhood Educator, you will: Provide a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children. Create and implement lesson plans that align with Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards (CT ELDS) and/or program curriculum. Support and monitor children's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development through intentional teaching and play-based learning. Use positive behavior support strategies and model appropriate social behavior. Conduct regular developmental assessments and screenings, maintaining accurate documentation of each child's progress. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding developmental milestones, daily routines, and any concerns. Maintain proper supervision at all times and adhere to required child-to-teacher ratios. Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, professional development, and parent-teacher conferences. Work collaboratively with colleagues and leadership to ensure compliance with state licensing regulations, program policies, and quality standards. Qualifications An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field. At least 1 year of experience working in an early childhood setting (preferred). Knowledge of
CT ELDS, NAEYC
standards, CACFP guidelines, and Care 4 Kids (preferred). Must meet state licensing requirements, including background checks, medical exam, and required training (e.g., CPR/First Aid). Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and supporting diverse families.
