If you are a curious and nurturing individual with some experience working with and caring for young children, a preservice early childhood educator who is looking for fulltime work, or a more experienced teacher looking for the opportunity to work and learn at an outstanding, well established preschool, this is the job for you. We are looking for a person who is reliable, with a growth mindset, who works well with a team, and who enjoys spending time outside with children supporting their growth, development, and learning. If you were hired you would have a schedule where you worked in different classrooms over two week periods and filled in whenever necessary in specific classrooms. We will provide the right person with the opportunity to grow and learn as an educator and become part of a collaborative community of educators who make a meaningful impact on children's lives. Duties and Responsibilities Assist Teacher(s) with implementation of activities, experiences and curriculum Develop open communications with all colleagues, administration and staff and both maintain and nurture a cooperative and professional relationship with all colleagues . Work with individuals and groups in a manner that is consistent with Leila Day values and philosophy Contribute to a safe, healthy and active learning environment. Care for the needs and well-being of the total group as well as each individual child, including awareness of and sensitivity to issues of equity and implicit bias Help with the maintenance of the classroom and outdoor spaces, including stocking of supplies and organizing instructional materials. Care for materials and equipment to ensure the indoor and outdoor spaces are properly tidied and organized at the close of each day Relay messages to and from the teachers as necessary. Be willing to learn and pitch in in all classrooms, and be flexible in terms of classroom assignments day-to-day Engage in on-going professional learning opportunities to remain current with early childhood research and best practices. Other duties as assigned or necessary. Attend staff meetings, school wide events, professional development trainings, and other activities outside of regular hours as deemed necessary by the administration. 2 years experience caring for and educating young children High School Diploma Be interested in pursuing the appropriate certification in early childhood education Must adhere to all CT State guidelines and Leila Day policies regarding immunizations, physical exam, and required health and safety training such as CPR, First Aid, and Administration of Medications Must have the physical ability to participate in activities that may include lifting, moving or holding children from 20-60 pounds as well as walking, squatting, climbing and sitting on the floor. Must have desire and ability to regularly spend as many as 4 hours per day outdoors. Must be able to maintain mental and physical alertness, appropriate level of energy and respond quickly to emergencies or unexpected situations.
