Teacher-Early Childcare Development Center Winters Wonderland EarlyChildcare Center Washington, DC Job Details Full-time $26.00 - $30.69 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Bilingual Computer operation CPR Certification Computer literacy High school diploma or GED First Aid Certification Associate's degree Full Job Description The Teacher is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Teachers must understand children's cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. The Teacher must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children, effectively guide teacher assistants, and resolve parental concerns. Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards. Lead by example; encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching. Plan individual and group ageappropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth. Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences. Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met. Ensure a healthy classroom environment - including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children. Supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, hygiene and safety standards. Maintain accurate records, forms and files. Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement. Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills. High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment. A strong understanding of child development. Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification Must clear full background check and must pass health screening. A Teacher must be 18 years of age and meet one of the education and experience qualifications below: An associate or more advanced degree with a major in early childhood education, early childhood development, child and family studies, or a closely related field; OR An associate or more advanced degree with a major in any field and at least twenty-four (24) semester credit hours in early childhood education, early childhood development, child and family studies, or a closely related field, and at least one (1) year of supervised occupational experience working with children in a licensed District of Columbia Child Development Center or its equivalent in another jurisdiction; OR At least forty-eight (48) semester credit hours with at least fifteen (15) semester hours in early childhood education, early childhood development, or child and family studies, and at least at least two (2) years of supervised occupational experience working with children in a licensed District of Columbia Child Development Center or its equivalent in another jurisdiction; OR A high school diploma or its equivalent and a current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, which specifies that the individual is qualified for the assigned age classification.

By December 2023, Teachers are required to have an associate degree with a major in early childhood education, early childhood development, child and family studies, or a closely related field or an associate's or more advanced degree with a major in any field with at least twenty-four (24) semester credit hours in early childhood education, early childhood development, child and family studies, or a closely related field and at least one (1) year of supervised occupational experience working with children in a licensed District of Columbia Child Development Center or its equivalent in another jurisdiction.Pay:
