Job Description

3-Year-Old Classroom Teacher Seeking a caring, dependable, and energetic 3-Year-Old Classroom Teacher to join our early childhood program. This position is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, structured, and engaging classroom environment where children can learn, play, grow, and develop age-appropriate social, emotional, language, motor, and early learning skills. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with young children, understand the importance of patience and consistency, and be able to support the daily routines of a busy 3-year-old classroom. This role requires strong communication, classroom management, and a genuine commitment to the well-being and development of children. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide attentive, nurturing care and supervision for children in the 3-year-old classroom. Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that support early learning, creativity, social skills, language development, motor development, and emotional growth. Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment. Follow the daily classroom schedule, including arrival, meals, rest time, bathroom routines, outdoor play, learning centers, and dismissal. Support children with toileting routines, handwashing, hygiene, and self-help skills. Use positive guidance strategies to encourage appropriate behavior, cooperation, and independence. Supervise children closely during indoor activities, outdoor play, transitions, meals, rest time, and field trips, if applicable. Communicate professionally and respectfully with parents, caregivers, staff, and supervisors. Observe children's development and report concerns or important updates to the supervisor. Maintain accurate attendance records, incident reports, daily notes, and other required documentation. Follow all health, safety, sanitation, child supervision, and emergency procedures. Assist with classroom cleaning and sanitation, including toys, tables, chairs, learning materials, and high-touch areas. Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development as required. Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, staff, and program operations. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Prior experience working with preschool-age children preferred. Must be able to pass all required background screenings and childcare clearance requirements. Must meet Florida Department of Children and Families childcare personnel requirements. DCF 40-hour childcare training preferred, or willingness to complete required training within required timeframes. Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain. Completion of required early literacy training preferred, or willingness to complete as required. CDA, FCCPC, ECPC, or related early childhood credential preferred. Knowledge of early childhood development, classroom routines, and positive behavior guidance preferred. Florida DCF provides training and credentialing guidance for childcare personnel, including child care facility training requirements, staff credential information, and CPR/First Aid expectations for childcare settings. (Florida DCF) Preferred Skills and Characteristics Warm, patient, dependable, and flexible. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to create a positive and structured classroom environment. Comfortable working with children who are learning independence, social skills, and classroom routines. Strong attention to safety and supervision. Ability to remain calm and professional in a busy classroom setting. Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and participate in ongoing training. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, sit on the floor, lift, carry, and move throughout the classroom and playground. Ability to lift or assist young children as needed. Ability to supervise children indoors and outdoors. Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations. Ability to perform routine classroom cleaning and sanitation tasks. Work Schedule This is a part-time position, approximately 30-35 hours per week . Hours may vary based on program needs. Some occasional evening, training, special event, or field trip availability may be required.
Pay:
$17.00 - $19.00 per hour
