Job Summary We're looking for a passionate, energetic Lead Counselor to guide our afterschool youth development program for grades Kinder - 5th grade. In this role, you'll take charge of creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment where children can grow socially, emotionally, and academically. As a leader on our team, you'll set the tone for staff and campers alike, bringing enthusiasm, structure, and heart to every afternoon. Responsibilities Lead daily supervision of children during afterschool hours, ensuring safety and wellbeing at all times Plan and lead a variety of activities such as arts and crafts, sports, outdoor play, tutoring, and group games that build learning and social skills Guide and support fellow counselors in managing classroom behavior through positive reinforcement and effective behavior management strategies Oversee homework help and tutoring support to keep students on track academically Respond to minor injuries or emergencies by implementing first aid protocols Collaborate with the team to design programming appropriate for each age group that meets the developmental needs of children from diverse backgrounds Serve as a key point of contact for parents and guardians, communicating clearly about children's progress, behavior, or concerns Skills Strong leadership and classroom management skills Knowledge of first aid procedures Proven ability to lead and supervise groups of children effectively Background in youth group facilitation, sports coaching, theater arts, or camp leadership is a plus Excellent team leadership abilities Confidence guiding staff in a fastpaced environment Demonstrated commitment to childhood development principles and early childhood education practices Ability to inspire and engage children through creative teaching, tutoring, and hands on activities Join us in leading a dynamic environment where children can learn, grow, and have fun!
