Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated, organized, and experienced Preschool Assistant Director to support the Director with the daily operations of a licensed early childhood education center. This position is an important leadership role responsible for supporting staff, maintaining compliance, assisting with classroom operations, and helping ensure a safe, nurturing, and high-quality environment for children and families. The ideal candidate is a confident and dependable leader with strong communication and organizational skills who can take initiative, work effectively with a team, and handle the day-to-day demands of a busy preschool environment. Key Responsibilities Assist the Director with the daily operations of the preschool. Provide leadership, guidance, and support to teachers and staff. Help ensure compliance with DCF regulations, licensing requirements, and center policies. Monitor classrooms to ensure proper supervision, safety, cleanliness, and quality of care. Assist with staff scheduling, attendance, classroom coverage, and daily staffing needs. Support teachers with classroom management and provide guidance when needed. Communicate professionally with parents, staff, and administration. Assist with addressing parent concerns and resolving issues professionally. Maintain accurate records, documentation, and required administrative paperwork. Assist with staff meetings, training, evaluations, and professional development. Support enrollment, tours, school events, and family engagement activities. Step into classrooms when needed to maintain appropriate staffing and ratios. Help maintain a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director or ownership. Required Qualifications Experience in Early Childhood Education or a licensed childcare setting DCF 45-Hour Childcare Certification Current CPR and First Aid Certification Previous administrative or office experience Strong leadership and organizational skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to work effectively with children, families, teachers, and administration Preferred Qualifications Previous Assistant Director, Lead Teacher, or supervisory experience in a childcare center Knowledge of DCF licensing requirements and childcare regulations Experience with staff scheduling and classroom coverage Familiarity with childcare management and administrative software
Pay:
$37,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
