West Palm Beach, FL Join Our Team! Future Kids Academy is seeking a caring, dependable, organized, and enthusiastic VPK Lead Teacher to join our growing early childhood education team. About the Role The VPK Lead Teacher will lead a classroom of 4- and 5-year-old children , creating meaningful learning experiences that support kindergarten readiness and overall child development. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic and organized educator who enjoys creating engaging activities, building positive relationships with children and families, and working collaboratively with a professional childcare team. Responsibilities Plan and implement age-appropriate daily lesson plans aligned with Florida VPK standards. Lead circle time, literacy activities, STEM experiences, arts and crafts, and hands-on learning. Support children's social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development. Maintain a positive, structured, and nurturing classroom environment. Use developmentally appropriate classroom management strategies. Closely supervise children and maintain a safe and healthy classroom. Assist children with meals, handwashing, outdoor play, and daily routines. Maintain required staff-to-child ratios and follow Florida DCF licensing and VPK requirements. Observe and assess children's development and maintain accurate documentation. Complete required VPK assessments and monitor kindergarten readiness. Communicate professionally and positively with families, coworkers, and center leadership. Participate in parent-teacher conferences and discuss children's progress. Keep the classroom clean, sanitized, organized, and engaging. Collaborate with teachers and staff to provide consistent, high-quality care and education. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Florida 45-Hour DCF Child Care Training required. At least one year of childcare or preschool teaching experience preferred. CDA or Early Childhood Education coursework/degree strongly preferred. VPK Teacher credentials, including Standards and Emergent Literacy, preferred. CPR and First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain/renew immediately. Strong classroom leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Patient, dependable, professional, and passionate about working with young children. English proficiency required. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. Knowledge of Florida DCF regulations and licensed childcare practices is a plus. Must successfully pass required Local and Federal (FDLE) Level 2 Background Screening. Physical Requirements Candidates must be able to work effectively in an active childcare environment and: Frequently stand and walk for more than 50% of the workday. Bend, squat, kneel, stoop, and sit or work at children's eye level. Perform repetitive or fine hand movements as needed. Lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Respond quickly and appropriately to children's needs and safety concerns. Multitask effectively in a busy, energetic, and sometimes loud environment.
