Primary Purpose:
Provides a nurturing, Christ-centered environment for 3-year-old students. Facilitates age-appropriate learning activities focused on developmental milestones. Partners with families to support early childhood growth spiritually, academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. Consistently reflects God's love in every interaction, serving as a positive influence on staff, students, and families for Christ, while fully embodying the Sunlight Way in all areas of responsibility.
Primary Responsibilities:
Classroom Instruction Plan and implement structured and play-based lessons aligned with early learning standards Introduce foundational skills in letters, numbers, colors, and shapes Guide children through group activities, story time, songs, and movement Use visual schedules, repetition, and hands-on experiences to reinforce learning Child Development & Care Support social-emotional growth through positive reinforcement and redirection Encourage independence in self-care routines (toileting, hand washing, snack time) Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment Observe and document developmental progress and behaviors Classroom Management Create a structured but flexible daily routine Use gentle guidance techniques to manage classroom behavior Foster respect, kindness, and cooperation among students Parent Communication Build positive relationships with families Communicate regularly through newsletters, apps, or meetings Share updates on student progress, behavior, and classroom activities Team Collaboration Work closely with assistants, co-teachers, and school leadership Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development Support school events and faith-based initiatives Spiritual Integration Incorporate prayer, Bible stories, and songs into daily routines Model Christ-like behavior and values Encourage children to understand God's love through age-appropriate conversations Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Spiritual Commitment A committed Christian who regularly attends church and actively lives out their faith. Demonstrates a growing personal relationship with Jesus through consistent spiritual disciplines such as scripture reading, prayer, gratitude and fellowship. Skills and Attributes Exhibits a consistently positive attitude upholding the values and mission of the school. Highly organized, detail-oriented and self-motivated. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to connect well with students, parents and staff. Maintains strict confidentiality in all matters. Flexible and willing to support school operations in a variety of roles as needed. Dependable with a strong commitment to punctuality and regular attendance. Work Experience Minimum of 3 years experience working with children in a preschool setting required. Minimum of 3 years experience working as a lead teacher in a preschool classroom or related field preferred. Teacher Educational Credentials
CDA/FCCPC
Required Bachelor's degree or higher in early childhood education or related field, or in process, preferred.
