Job Description

Daycare/Preschool Assistant Director Oaktree Academy Augusta, GA Job Details Full-time From $19 an hour 3 days ago Benefits Paid time off Qualifications School experience Early childhood education center experience Teamwork Teacher coaching Attention to detail Leadership Full Job Description Assistant Director - Early Childhood Education Confidential Search | Augusta, Georgia Help Lead. Support Teachers. Serve Families. Keep Learning. Make a Difference. An established early childhood education center in the Augusta, Georgia area is conducting a confidential search for an experienced, dependable, and enthusiastic Assistant Director to support the day-to-day operations and continued success of the school. We're looking for someone who already knows their way around a childcare center — but doesn't think they already know everything. The right person brings solid early childhood experience, understands the importance of compliance and quality programming, and is just as willing to say "I can handle that" as they are to say "I haven't done that before, but I'm ready to learn." This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll support teachers, communicate with families, handle administrative responsibilities, help maintain compliance, and step into a classroom when the day requires another capable set of hands. Because in preschool, the plan at 8:00 AM and the reality at 8:15 AM aren't always the same thing. What You'll Do As the Assistant Director, you'll work closely with school leadership to keep daily operations running smoothly while helping create a positive, welcoming environment for children, families, and staff.
You'll:
Partner with leadership to support daily school operations. Help maintain compliance with Georgia childcare licensing requirements and school policies. Support requirements and documentation associated with the Food Program, Quality Rated, and Georgia Pre-K. Welcome families and provide exceptional, professional customer service. Answer phones, respond to family inquiries, schedule tours, and assist with enrollment. Conduct school tours and help prospective families feel welcome from the moment they walk through the doors. Support teachers with classroom needs, curriculum implementation, and day-to-day challenges. Step into classrooms and provide coverage when needed. Assist with staff scheduling and maintaining appropriate classroom ratios. Maintain accurate administrative records and required documentation. Protect the confidentiality of children, families, and employees. Help create a positive, collaborative workplace where teachers feel supported and appreciated. Be flexible when staffing, enrollment, classroom, or operational needs change. Jump in wherever needed to help make the day successful. This is a hands-on leadership position — part administrator, part educator, part problem-solver, and part culture builder. What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who brings meaningful early childhood experience, leadership potential, flexibility, and a genuine desire to continue learning and growing. Our Must-Haves At least two years of experience working in a childcare, preschool, or early childhood education setting. Experience working with or supporting the Food Program, Quality Rated, and Georgia Pre-K. Ability to work a flexible schedule based on the operational needs of the school. A genuine willingness to learn the things you don't already know. We don't expect you to walk through the door knowing everything — but we absolutely expect you to be curious, coachable, and eager to grow.
Our ideal candidate also:
Understands the importance of licensing, ratios, documentation, health and safety requirements, and confidentiality. Communicates professionally and confidently with parents, teachers, children, and leadership. Is dependable, punctual, organized, and detail-oriented. Can manage multiple priorities while keeping children and their safety at the center of every decision. Is comfortable providing guidance and support to teachers. Can pivot quickly when plans change — because they will. Takes initiative and doesn't need to be told every time something needs attention. Is comfortable asking questions when they don't know the answer. Accepts feedback and sees coaching as an opportunity to grow. Brings a positive, solutions-focused attitude to work. Genuinely enjoys supporting teachers and helping children thrive. Why Consider This Opportunity? Because where you work matters. This is an opportunity to join an established early childhood program and expand your experience beyond the classroom while continuing to develop your skills in school leadership and administration. You'll enjoy: Monday-Friday schedule No weekends Hands-on leadership experience Opportunities to learn and grow within early childhood administration The ability to make an impact across an entire school A team environment where your contribution matters If you're ready to take the next step in your early childhood career, bring your experience, flexibility, curiosity, and willingness to jump in wherever you're needed. You don't need to know everything on Day One. You do need to be ready to learn, contribute, and grow. And a sense of humor doesn't hurt either. The little humans will make sure you use it. Apply today for confidential consideration. This position is being recruited confidentially. Additional information regarding the school will be shared with qualified candidates as they advance through the interview process. We appreciate your discretion and ask that applicants respect the confidential nature of the search.
