Director of Operations and Priest-in-Charge Position Summary Saint Alban's Episcopal Church is seeking a caring, dependable, and responsible Childcare Worker to provide a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment for children while their parents and guardians participate in worship and other Sunday morning activities. The Childcare Worker plays an important role in the hospitality and ministry of Saint Alban's by allowing parents and caregivers to participate fully in the life and worship of the parish while knowing their children are being well cared for. Essential Responsibilities Provide attentive and appropriate supervision of children during the scheduled childcare period each Sunday. Create a warm, welcoming, and caring environment for children and their families. Engage children in age-appropriate activities, including play, reading, simple crafts, and quiet activities. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized childcare area. Follow all Saint Alban's policies and procedures regarding the safety and protection of children. Follow established procedures for checking children in and releasing them only to an authorized parent or guardian. Communicate appropriately with parents or guardians regarding their child's needs or any concerns that arise. Immediately report any accident, injury, safety concern, or unusual situation to the appropriate church staff member. Assist with cleaning and organizing toys, supplies, and the childcare area following each Sunday session. Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding children and families. Work cooperatively with clergy, staff, volunteers, and other childcare workers.
Qualifications The ideal candidate should:
Be dependable, punctual, patient, and caring. Enjoy working with children and families. Demonstrate good judgment and responsible decision-making. Be able to communicate effectively with children, parents, church staff, and volunteers. Be willing to follow the policies, procedures, and expectations of Saint Alban's Episcopal Church. Previous childcare, nursery, teaching, or similar experience is preferred. CPR and First Aid certification is preferred. Successfully complete any required background screening and child-safety training, including applicable Safeguarding God's Children requirements. Schedule This position is scheduled for approximately 1.5 hours each Sunday for the 9:00 AM Service. Arrival at 8:45. . The Childcare Worker is expected to arrive on time and remain until all children have been picked up by their parents or authorized guardians. Additional childcare opportunities may occasionally be available for special services, parish programs, meetings, or other church events. Physical Requirements The position may require the ability to: Sit on the floor and interact with young children. Bend, kneel, stand, and move throughout the childcare area. Assist children with normal age-appropriate needs. Lift or carry young children when necessary and appropriate.
