Literacy and language development are at the heart of this classroom. We are looking for an educator who understands how young children learn through purposeful play, conversation, books, exploration, and hands-on experiences—and who is excited to intentionally build the early reading and language skills children need for future success. What We're Looking For High School Diploma or Equivalent AA or BA in Early Childhood Education or related field, strongly preferred 1+ years experience Strong communication skills, including the ability to interact with parents and other staff members is required. The ability to be patient, collaborative, creative, and passionate about Early Childhood education is essential for this role.
The ideal candidate:
Has previous Preschool and/or Pre-K classroom experience Understands early childhood development and kindergarten readiness Has experience planning and implementing engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons Loves children's literature, storytelling, vocabulary development, and language-rich learning Is comfortable teaching early literacy skills intentionally throughout the school day Is willing to learn, receive training in, and implement practices aligned with the Science of Reading Understands that preschool literacy is more than teaching letters—it includes oral language, phonological awareness, vocabulary, comprehension, print awareness, and meaningful experiences with books Can create a warm, organized, engaging classroom where children feel safe to explore, communicate, and learn Values purposeful play and knows how to embed learning into centers, small groups, read-alouds, conversations, and everyday routines Is dependable, professional, collaborative, and receptive to coaching and professional development This Position Is Best for a Teacher Who... Wants to do more than supervise children. We are building a preschool classroom where children are talking, thinking, exploring, creating, listening to great books, developing strong vocabulary, playing with sounds and language, and building the foundation for successful reading. You do not need to come to us as a Science of Reading expert. However, you must be eager to learn, participate in training, accept instructional coaching, and consistently apply what you learn in your classroom.
