Minimum Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age
- No personal record regarding child abuse, sexual abuse, or neglect
- Must pass a criminal record check (DCI)
- Required fingerprinting every four years
Educational/ Experience Requirements:
- Must have or be working towards a high school diploma or GED
- Experience working with children preferred
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Organizational skills
- Communication skills
- Maintain confidentiality in regards to staff, children, and family information
- Computer skills
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to meet Iowa HHA Standards and regulations for a child care employee
Physical Requirements :
- Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to sit on the floor and get back up
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Lead classroom based on child development principles o Training will be provided
- Plan and implement a weekly lesson plan using provided curriculum
- Plan and implement daily plans and activities using provided curriculum
- Supervise children and participate with children in activities
- Maintain center and equipment
- Assist with all cleaning
- Communicate with parents on an ongoing basis and plan parent conferences
- Complete daily observations of child
- Complete child evaluations and assessments
- Provide guidance for children's behavior
- Other duties or tasks as designated by the director
- Help maintain and update center records
- Represent the center in the community
- Establish and maintain a healthy, safe, and enjoyable working and learning environment for staff, parents, children, and visitors
- Provide children with assistance in dealing with personal hygiene, medical needs, toileting, diapering, and feeding
- May be exposed to verbal outbursts, physical actions, and/or bodily fluids as part of the childcare environment
