The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in providing high-quality care and education in the classroom. This role helps maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment that promotes the development of children in alignment with Iowa Early Learning Standards. Primary Responsibilities Assist with planning and implementing daily lesson plans and activities. Supervise children and actively participate in classroom activities. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment. Communicate with parents as directed and assist with conferences. Complete daily observations and contribute to child evaluations. Provide positive guidance for children's behavior. Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher or Director. Professional Growth and Development Complete required Iowa HHS training within the first three months of employment: Mandatory Reporter Training for child abuse. At least one hour of Universal Precautions training (OSHA standard). Pediatric CPR certification (infant, child, adult) and pediatric first aid certification. Maintain current certifications and complete annual continuing education as required by Iowa HHS.

Health and Safety Requirements:

Complete a staff physical examination within 6 months of employment. Provide documentation of a TB test as required by Iowa HHS. Fingerprinting and background checks prior to employment. Minimum Qualifications Ability to meet Iowa HHS requirements for childcare staff. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Physical Requirements Ability to lift at minimum 30 lbs. routinely. Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, and reaching. Exposure to temperature changes, humidity, odors, and infectious conditions.
