Job Overview Join our vibrant early childhood education team as a Preschool Co-Teacher, where your enthusiasm and dedication will inspire young learners to explore, discover, and grow in their love of Jesus! We are hiring for the 2026-2027 school year. This position will start in late August and follows the Waukee Schools schedule. The perfect candidate will be co-teaching a 2 -year-old class and a 3-year-old class on Monday-Thursday mornings. In this role, you will collaborate with lead teachers to create a nurturing classroom environment that promotes childhood development and literacy education. Your passion for working with children and expertise in classroom management will help foster a love of learning in toddlers and preschoolers. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on children's lives while developing your skills in curriculum development and behavior management. Duties Assist in designing and implementing engaging lesson plans aligned with early childhood education standards, including math, physical education, and literacy activities. Support classroom management by maintaining a positive environment that encourages respectful behavior and active participation. Foster child welfare by ensuring safety protocols are followed and promoting emotional well-being within the classroom. Collaborate with lead teachers to help with planning, assessments, progress reports and conferences. Engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote social skills, motor development, and cognitive growth. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians about their child's progress, behavior, and developmental milestones. Qualifications Prior classroom experience working with preschool-aged children or in daycare settings is highly preferred. Knowledge of childhood development theories, behavior management techniques, and early intervention practices. Experience with curriculum development, lesson planning, and literacy education strategies. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and families. Certifications in early childhood education or childcare are desirable; ongoing professional development is encouraged. Passion for working with children.
