Do you love to draw? Young Rembrandts is a national award-winning after-school drawing program. Our innovative step-by-step process teaches children basic drawing techniques. The curriculum encourages children to express their imaginations while improving motor skills, patience, focus, and the ability to stay on task. Young Rembrandts
  • Rockford is seeking enthusiastic candidates with experience working with groups of 10 or more children. Drawing experience is preferred, but confidence and passion for creating art are equally considered. Young Rembrandts
  • Rockford provides paid training in the Young Rembrandts methodology and teaching technique. We also provide all lessons, supplies, and materials. Young Rembrandts
  • Rockford offers classes in public and private schools at the end of the regular school day, as well as in park districts and preschools.
As a Young Rembrandts Instructor, you must be available to teach a minimum of 2 afternoons each week during the school year. Classes are 1 hour long, and you must be available for 30 minutes before and after class (2 hours total; exact timing depends on school dismissal time). Instructors are assigned to one or more schools per week (based on schedule). Please note that this is a VERY part-time position, approximately 3-8 hours per week , since only 1 after-school class per day would be available. Please be aware that the schedule for the after-school program is in line with the school calendar and primarily runs from September to May .
Job requirements:
  • Age 18 years or older.
  • Illinois resident (required).
  • High School diploma or equivalent (required). Some college preferred.
  • Instruct and motivate students in the Young Rembrandts drawing curriculum.
  • Manage classroom instruction AND behavior of 15 students as sole instructor.
  • Time management and attention to detail are essential.
  • Ability to maintain a constructive and calm demeanor in chaotic classroom moments.
  • Availability for a 2-hour shift between 1:30 pm and 5:00 pm at least 2 days per week (M-Th).
  • Requires lifting and/or moving up to 40 pounds (in transporting classroom supplies).
  • Requires lifting chairs and moving tables (as needed) to arrange classroom space.
  • Requires transporting classroom supplies up and down the stairs (depending on location).
  • Ability to stand for 2 hours and convey the lesson verbally and by drawing on a dry-erase board.
  • Attend monthly in-person staff meetings (paid).
  • Completion of I-9 to verify eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • Any job offers will be contingent upon completion of a background check.
  • Valid Driver's License, proof of auto insurance, and your own reliable transportation.
  • Must be willing to complete Employment History Review per Faith's Law (IL Public Act 102-0676) as requested by each assigned school or district.
  • Must be willing to complete additional security protocols as required by the assigned class.
