Position Overview We are seeking a qualified Early Childhood Educator to join our teaching team. This position is responsible for providing high-quality care and education to young children while supporting the daily operations of the classroom. The ideal candidate is an experienced early childhood professional who understands child development, classroom management, and developmentally appropriate practices. This role requires someone who can work collaboratively with a teaching team, maintain a safe and organized classroom, and provide responsive, nurturing care to every child. Key Responsibilities Provide attentive, responsive, and nurturing care to children throughout the day. Support the implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum and classroom activities. Plan and facilitate engaging learning experiences through play, sensory activities, movement, and social interactions. Support children's physical, social-emotional, cognitive, and developmental needs. Observe children and document developmental progress, behaviors, interests, and individual needs. Use observations to help inform individualized classroom strategies and care. Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment. Follow all health, safety, sanitation, supervision, and emergency procedures. Support positive classroom management and use developmentally appropriate guidance strategies. Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers. Work collaboratively with the teaching team to maintain consistency in classroom routines, expectations, and caregiving practices. Support children with developmental differences, disabilities, or additional needs by adapting activities and providing appropriate assistance. Communicate professionally with families and team members regarding children's daily experiences and needs. Participate in required staff meetings, professional development, and ongoing training. Follow all applicable Illinois DCFS licensing requirements and program policies. Required Qualifications Candidates must meet at least ONE of the following education requirements: CDA Credential , OR 30 college credit hours , including at least 6 college credit hours directly related to Early Childhood Education or Child Development In addition, candidates must: Have experience working directly with young children in a professional or educational setting. Have a working knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices. Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage a classroom and respond appropriately to children's behaviors and individual needs. Demonstrate strong communication, professionalism, and teamwork skills. Be able to meet all applicable Illinois DCFS licensing and employment requirements. Be willing to complete all required background checks, health requirements, and training. Preferred Qualifications An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or a related field. Previous experience working in a licensed childcare center, preschool, Montessori program, or early childhood education setting. Experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children. Experience supporting children with developmental delays, disabilities, or other individualized needs. Current First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain Experience with curriculum implementation, developmental assessments, and classroom documentation. Experience working as a Lead Teacher, Assistant Teacher, Early Childhood Educator, or similar role.
