Job Description

Cornerstone Lutheran Preschool is seeking Lead Teachers for the 2026-2027 school year. Several positions are available. This is a wonderful opportunity for individuals who are passionate about nurturing young children, partnering with families, and building meaningful relationships with coworkers in a Christ-centered environment. Schedule Varied days depending on position Hours are 8:15 am-1:15 pm Job Type Part-time Reports To Preschool Director Key Responsibilities Self-Management and Professional Conduct Demonstrate a strong Christian faith and enthusiasm for working with young children Model Christ's love through patience, kindness, and consistent, caring interactions Attend staff meetings, workshops, and seminars; complete at least 12 hours of training annually Maintain current First Aid and infant/child CPR certifications Successfully complete a background check, TB test, and drug screening Staff Leadership and Collaboration Develop and implement engaging daily lesson plans aligned with Indiana Early Learning Foundations and individual student needs Plan and prepare materials and supplies for classroom activities Serve as a positive role model and support fellow staff members Follow all policies outlined in the staff handbook Participate in school events such as Thanksgiving Feasts, Christmas Programs, and family nights Support and uphold standards for Paths to Quality and National Lutheran School Accreditation Child Guidance and Classroom Management Maintain classroom routines, schedules, and attendance records Communicate clearly and effectively with children to meet their developmental needs Provide guidance and support during play and learning activities Conduct required safety drills (fire, tornado, lockdown) according to emergency procedures Implement positive discipline strategies Track and document each child's growth and development Build strong relationships with families through open, respectful communication, including conferences and updates on behavior, health, and progress Qualifications Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, OR Child Development Associate (CDA) credential (or willingness to obtain), OR Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field Personal Characteristics Physically and mentally capable of caring for young children Able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry up to 70 pounds Self-motivated and able to work independently Willing to take on additional responsibilities as needed Benefits Employees working over 20 hours per week are eligible for retirement and disability benefits All staff receive discounted tuition for their child(ren) Join our team and be part of a ministry that shares the love of Jesus while fostering a joyful and engaging learning environment for young children.
