2-5 Job description: Overview The LIFE Preschool teacher shall first and foremost have a love for sharing Jesus with children! In addition to this passion, the ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of childhood development and a commitment to fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment for young learners. This role involves creating engaging lesson plans, managing classroom behavior, and providing individualized support to each child. The Preschool Teacher will play a crucial role in the early education of children, preparing them for future academic success. This is a faith-based school and the applicant should have values and practices consistent with our beliefs. Duties & Responsibilities Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that align with early childhood education standards. Plan and execute age appropriate experiences indoor and outdoor, which foster child exploration, curiosity and discovery. Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that promotes learning and development. Establish a daily classroom routine that includes time for whole group, small group and individual creative expression. Ensure children's physical, emotional, and social needs are met. Utilize effective behavior management strategies to maintain a positive classroom atmosphere. Assess and monitor children's progress in various areas including math, language, and social skills. Collaborate with parents and caregivers to support children's learning at home. Engage in early intervention practices as needed to support children with diverse needs. Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in preschool education. Collaborate with co-teachers and school leadership to maintain a respectful and professional learning environment. Participate in required staff meetings, trainings, and occasional after-school hours events (example: open house, family night, etc) Perform any other duties that may be assigned by administration Skills Able to effectively and respectfully communicate, verbally and in writing, with co-workers, students, families, and administration, by treating others with friendliness, dignity, and consideration. Work collaboratively and respectfully with administration and other ministries in the building regarding the use of shared space Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child development principles Demonstrate high personal integrity and a commitment to Beulah Missionary Church's Mission and Beliefs. Follow the Matthew 18 principles in interactions with students, parents, and staff. Understand that working with children requires patience, a good attitude, and flexibility, as well as the ability to handle unexpected situations calmly. Maintain a personal appearance that is a role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste and in agreement with school policy. Demonstrate organizational skills and a commitment to follow through on tasks with minimal supervision. Experience Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood education or a related field, or showing work towards a degree or certification, is preferred. A current Child Development credential or valid Indiana State Teaching License with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education or Special Education, or in the process of completing, also preferred. Previous experience working in a preschool or early childhood education setting is preferred. Knowledge of childhood development principles and practices is essential. Experience in lesson planning and implementing effective teaching strategies is highly desirable. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues.
