Job Description

Overview We are seeking a reliable, adaptable, and nurturing Substitute Daycare Teacher to join our team on an on-call or scheduled basis. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment, easily steps into established daily routines, and ensures a safe, engaging, and loving atmosphere for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years.
Key ResponsibilitiesClassroom Management & Daily Operations Step-In Coverage:
Assume classroom responsibilities seamlessly on short notice or for planned absences.
Routine Maintenance:
Follow daily classroom schedules including snack/meal times, outdoor play, group learning, and nap times.
Supervision:
Maintain active line-of-sight supervision of children at all times to ensure emotional and physical safety.
Child Support & Instruction Curriculum Execution:
Assist with or lead pre-planned lessons, STEM activities, reading, and creative projects.
Positive Guidance:
Implement age-appropriate positive redirection and behavioral management techniques.
Care & Hygiene:
Assist younger children with handwashing, meal times, and diapering/restroom routines according to sanitation standards.
Communication & Professionalism Parent Interaction:
Warmly greet parents at pickup/drop-off and communicate daily reports or highlights as requested.
Team Collaboration:
Work effectively alongside lead teachers, assistants, and daycare leadership.
Compliance:
Maintain strict compliance with state licensing standards, child-to-staff ratios, and health/safety regulations. Qualifications & SkillsRequired High school diploma or GED equivalent. Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience working with young children in a licensed childcare facility, school, or camp setting. Current CPR and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain before starting). Ability to pass all state-mandated background checks, fingerprinting, and drug screenings. Strong communication, flexibility, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or coursework in Early Childhood Education (ECE). Knowledge of state licensing standards and child safety protocol. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 35-40 lbs (lifting infants, toddlers, or equipment). Ability to move swiftly, bend, kneel, sit on the floor, and stand for extended periods. Stamina to manage active indoor and outdoor playground environments.

$12.50 - $13.50 per hour
