Job Description

Lead Teacher Neighborhood Learning Center is looking for a dependable, caring, energetic Lead Teacher to join our NLC team! Our Lead Teachers are responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, clean, and engaging learning environment while providing high-quality care and supervision for children. This position includes planning developmentally appropriate activities, maintaining classroom routines, building positive relationships with children and families, and working together with the NLC team to keep each day running smoothly.
Responsibilities include:
Create and implement weekly lesson plans with developmentally appropriate activities Supervise and monitor children to ensure their health and safety Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment Establish consistent classroom schedules and routines that provide appropriate time for learning, physical activity, meals, rest, and play Provide hands-on care including diapering, toileting, meals, rest time, and other daily needs as appropriate for the age group Communicate professionally with families and other members of the NLC team Follow all center policies, procedures, and Kansas childcare licensing requirements Participate in required professional development and training Work cooperatively with other classrooms and assist where needed
Required Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years old High school diploma or GED Must meet Kansas licensing qualifications for a Lead Teacher based on education and/or qualifying early childhood experience Must successfully complete all required background checks for employment Must be able to complete required health documentation and obtain a negative TB test within the required timeframe Must complete required orientation, health and safety training, pediatric First Aid/CPR, and ongoing professional development requirements Must be dependable, professional, and able to safely supervise and actively engage with children Previous experience working in a licensed childcare setting is strongly preferred. Applicants who do not currently meet Lead Teacher qualifications but would otherwise be a great fit may also be considered for another teaching position while gaining the experience and training needed to qualify.
