Must be 18+ years old Must have a high school diploma or equivalent Has at least one year experience teaching in a licensed childcare program (preferred) Reliable and able to work and communicate well with others Flexible in receiving assignments and adapting to changes in the preschool or after-school program Able to physically perform the tasks; picking up thirty-five pound children & sitting on/near the floor with children General responsibilities include but are not limited to: Implementing the daily program according to the lesson plans furnished by the regular teacher or assist the assigned teacher in any way possible. Arriving on time as scheduled Clean, neat appearance Assisting regular teachers with diapering/bathroom duties & supervision Doing a visual check of each child as they arrive Speaking to parents and children in a warm, friendly manner Maintaining a professional attitude and loyalty to the preschool at all times. Avoid gossip or inappropriate behavior. Keep information about children/parents confidential. Assisting with fundraising and special programs Being receptive to suggestions and new ideas Being familiar with and following-up on all FLLC policies Following Licensing & All STARS Regulations Obtaining 15 hours of professional development credit per year in accordance with
Kentucky Child Care Licensing Regulations:
(a) Six (6) hours of cabinet-approved orientation within the first three (3) months of employment; (b) Nine (9) hours of cabinet-approved early care and education training within the first year of employment, including one and one-half (1 1/2) hours of pediatric abusive head trauma training; and (c) Fifteen (15) hours of cabinet-approved early care and education training during each subsequent year of employment, including one and one-half (1 1/2) hours of pediatric abusive head trauma training completed once every five (5) years. Maintaining an annual professional growth plan Attending & participating in staff meetings Will be evaluated annually by the Director and Associate Director of Faith Lutheran Learning Center For a safe and appropriate learning environment, responsibilities include but are not limited to: Checking the classroom for sharp objects, covered outlets, temperature control, and lighting Being consistent about sharing expectations and providing appropriate consequences Knowing where each child in your classroom is at all times; keeping a constant count (inside & outside) Making sure the classroom is free of trash or materials that could cause accidents Completing accident/incident reports for any event requiring medical or special attention Never leaving the children unattended. If you must leave the classroom, make sure to find someone to stay with the children in your place Treating all children with respect. Allow them to feel safe to try and fail without fear Using a calm, non-threatening voice to model behavior to the children. Yelling, shouting, or using sarcasm with the children is never appropriate Understanding child development and not putting unnecessary pressure on a child to complete a task Giving praise and positive reinforcement for efforts to achieve Following the center-wide behavior program, 1-2-3 Magic & offer redirection when possible For a clean environment, responsibilities include but are not limited to: Keeping the classroom clean and neat. There should be no trash or food on the floor. Table tops must be cleaned off throughout the day Cleaning toys and materials weekly (daily if needed) Cleaning tables and floors immediately after the children eat Washing your hands frequently (especially before touching food & after using the restroom). Model this behavior to the children. Tying up soiled clothing in a plastic bag and placing it in the child's cubby to go home at the end of the school day. Make sure parents are alerted to take them home. Sanitizing nap mats daily. Send home children's nap bags at the end of each week. Providing outdoor play daily. The only time children will not go outside is during a weather alert.
