Job Description

Job Overview As a Daycare Support Staff member, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for children. Your enthusiasm and dedication will help foster their growth and development while ensuring their safety and well-being. You'll work closely with educators and caregivers to support daily activities, engage children in learning experiences, and promote positive behavior. Responsibilities Assist in the implementation of daily educational activities that promote childhood development. Follow daily classroom schedules and daily cleaning schedules. Actively supervise children during playtime, ensuring a safe and engaging environment. Support children with special needs by applying behavior management techniques and individualized care. Help maintain safety and ratios in the classroom. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the classroom and daycare facilities. Help children when needed with toileting, diaper changes, feeding, or any other time. Keep up with child hygiene (handwashing, clean faces, clean noses, etc.) Participate in active supervision while working in the classrooms with children. Follow and implement health, safety and sanitation procedures throughout the day Ensure children are accounted for during movement from one (1) location to another using name-to-face recognition by visually identifying each child. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding children's progress and any concerns. Collaborate with teaching staff to create lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles. Provide first aid when necessary, ensuring the health and safety of all children. Participate in ongoing training sessions to enhance skills in early childhood education. Qualifications Experience working with children in daycare, preschool, or similar settings is preferred. Knowledge of childhood development principles and practices. Familiarity with special education techniques for working with children with disabilities is preferred. Strong skills in classroom management to maintain a positive learning environment. First aid certification is highly desirable; willingness to obtain certification if not currently held. Background in caregiving, including nannying or babysitting experience, is beneficial. Ability to engage effectively with toddlers and infants, providing attentive care as needed. Excellent communication skills to interact positively with children, parents, and team members. Requirements to obtain and keep employment Complete 15 hours of professional development annually and implement what you have learned back into the classroom Update TB skin test every two years Complete a professional development plan with the director annually Complete a staff evaluation with the director annually Complete CPR/First Aid certification every two years (if required by director) Complete the 1.5 hour Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma Training in the first year of hire Complete 6 hours of Orientation in the first 90 days of hire Follow and implement all center policies and procedures on a daily basis. Follow through on your daily schedule and stay on task.
