  • A First Step Learning Center in East Longmeadow has an immediate need for certified teachers .
Must be EEC teacher certified or be eligible for EEC teacher certification for Infants & Toddlers, Preschool, or School Age.
Initial EEC certification requires:
  • a Child Growth and Development course (or related) or willingness to take quickly?
  • 150 hours of work experience in one age group?
  • Ideal candidates will have dual certification in Infant/Toddler and Preschool. Preference to full time availability of 7:30-4:30, or 7:45
  • 4:45 or 8-4:45 Monday through Friday OR a schedule of a minimum of 33 hours a week with ability to open (7:15am) or close (4:45pm) at least 3 days/week. But we will consider part-time candidates as well. We follow a modified school year calendar
  • we are closed for school vacation weeks February, April, and December each year as well as 2 weeks in the summer.
Seeking a Teacher with experience preparing and delivering classroom activities, communicating with staff and parents, ensuring that the classroom space is a safe, welcoming, and engaging place for young children to learn and grow. To be a successful teacher you should be creative, energetic, and able to encourage self-expression. We are looking for someone who loves teaching and is able to offer a balance of structured activities along with having fun both indoors and out
  • we especially embrace the Outdoor Classroom! The teacher must be attentive to prioritizing children's social / emotional needs and development. Top candidates will have evidence of a passion for early childhood development and a commitment for meeting children where they are at. We strive for lower than required teacher to child ratios
  • for example in a classroom for Preschool where 10:1 is the state requirement, we strive for 15:3.
Minimum qualifications for this position:
minimum of 1 years of classroom or similar setting experience or education Priority given to those with EEC certification; or we can help candidates who are eligible for certification through the Department of Early Education and Care Massachusetts. calm, patient, and loving personality
  • must have the ability to remain calm with children even in their most challenging moments.
ability to work under supervision of Director/Assistant Director ability to implement curriculum, activities, and routines including circle time, structured lessons/activities, snack and meal times, light cleaning, diaper changes and potty training able to commit to employment for a minimum of a year or longer to provide stable environment for children enrolled in care EEC Essentials 2.0 Training Certificate or a candidate must be willing to complete this free short online training as required by The Department of Early Education and Care current Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire physically able to lift 50 pounds a Massachusetts background check including fingerprinting is required prior to beginning employment, as well as medical clearance from a physician Please apply with a resume or a cover letter outlining your qualifications.
