Job Description

The Itsy Bitsy Child Watch (IBCW) Evening Assistant will support the daily operations and implementation of the evening IBCW program. IBCW provides as-needed care for the children of Holyoke Community College (HCC) students. Assistant will enthusiastically join children in their play and support their curiosity, ideas, and creativity. Assistant will support program administrators and staff with activity preparation and clean-up, classroom maintenance, and other duties as required to meet Early Education & Care regulations. Create and actively promote a comfortable and welcoming environment where all families from diverse cultures and backgrounds, every student, and employee are treated with dignity and respect, in a friendly, personalized manner; Ensure safe, healthy and quality experiences for children and families; Interact with and engage children in developmentally appropriate activities; Provide personal care of children, including diapering, hand washing, and feeding as necessary for the health and wellbeing of the children; Light cleaning of the classroom, dishes, vacuuming, mopping, and disinfecting surfaces, toys and materials as needed. Work a flexible evening schedule. Understand daily operational systems such as attendance tracking; Support program administrators in implementing program policies; Support program administrators to ensure the program meets EEC approval requirements; Any other duties assigned or required by the program administration.
Required Qualifications:
Pass the EEC Background check (CORI/SORI/Fingerprinting); Minimum of 3 months in early education and care, family childcare or out-of-school time programs; or one semester of Federal Work Study in IBCW; Ability to work evenings; Outstanding time management and multi-tasking abilities, with first-rate attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:
One year experience working in early education and care or family child care; Completed EEC Essentials Training; Fluent verbal and written skills in both English and Spanish.
IBCW Classroom Work:
Ability to lift children (average of 12-50 lbs.) consistently throughout the day, sit on the floor, move light furniture, light cleaning duties (vacuum, mop, disinfect surfaces, toys and materials); Will use computer keyboards requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity. Balancing, crouching, grasping, pulling, reaching and stooping may also be required;

$16.00.
