The YMCA is seeking a Preschool Substitute Teacher to support our mission-driven early learning programs. In this role, you will provide classroom coverage for preschool-aged children, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment that encourages curiosity, social skills, and school readiness. Following established lesson plans and YMCA curriculum, you'll lead activities, supervise play, and model positive behavior. You'll collaborate with staff, communicate with families, and uphold YMCA values of respect, caring, honesty, and responsibility while making a meaningful impact in your community. Responsibilities Provide age-appropriate classroom coverage for preschool groups following lesson plans and YMCA curriculum Ensure a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment for all children Support children's social, emotional, and cognitive development through guided activities and play Follow health, safety, and child protection policies, including sign-in/out and supervision standards Communicate positively with children, families, and staff about daily activities and student needs Assist with classroom setup, cleanup, and maintaining organized learning spaces Adapt quickly to different classrooms, routines, and teaching styles as needed Model YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility Required Skills Classroom management Early childhood education practices Child supervision and safety Lesson plan implementation Positive behavior guidance CPR and First Aid Parent and guardian communication Recordkeeping and incident reporting Time management and reliability Team collaboration
