The YMCA is seeking a Preschool Teacher to lead a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom for children ages 3-5. In this role, you will plan and deliver play-based, developmentally appropriate lessons that foster social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth. You will observe and document children's progress, communicate regularly with families, and maintain classrooms that meet YMCA and state licensing standards. As part of a mission-driven, community-focused team, you will model YMCA values, collaborate with staff, and participate in ongoing professional development. Responsibilities Plan and implement developmentally appropriate preschool curriculum aligned with YMCA mission and state guidelines Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment that supports social, emotional, and cognitive growth Observe, document, and assess children's progress; communicate regularly with families about milestones and concerns Maintain classroom organization, hygiene, and safety in accordance with YMCA and state licensing standards Collaborate with co-teachers, supervisors, and support staff to coordinate lessons and classroom routines Support children's behavior using positive guidance and age-appropriate conflict resolution strategies Engage families through conferences, newsletters, and events to strengthen home-school partnerships Participate in YMCA trainings, staff meetings, and professional development to enhance teaching practices Implement health, nutrition, and physical activity practices that promote children's overall well-being Uphold YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in all interactions Required Skills Curriculum planning for early childhood Classroom management Child observation and assessment Early literacy and numeracy instruction Behavior guidance and social-emotional support Parent and family communication Knowledge of child development and DAPSafety, hygiene, and incident reporting Lesson planning and documentation Collaboration with teaching teams
